Noticed this today, the Kings leading scorer over 8 games is De'Aaron Fox at a measly 12.5 ppg.

I think sometimes we see someone average a lot of points on a bad team and we think, "Well someone has to score the points." That is, apparently, not the case in Sacramento.

That's cause nobody is playing big minutes there. They are sharing them around. Playing around 22-27mpg each. If someone was getting big minutes then they'd be likely to have someone putting up good scoring numbers. Hard to do that with so few minutes though.

They have 1 win. Also he's shooting unsustainable from 3 at 42% when he normally shoots like 22% from 3

I do believe you missed the point of the thread.

I actually liked Kevin Edwards (this was during prime my prime years of basketball card collecting). It was an unfortunate reason the Nets picked him up, though.

As for Fox, glad to see him doing pretty well. Sac has some decent young players even if none of them have 'exploded' yet. They probably won't be very good next year, but I'd still feel a lot better if the Lakers totally fell apart this season.

Fox has more upside than Ball, whether he grows into all that potential is another thing.

IDK man, the way ball sees the game is special.

Not getting the pick this year would be disappointing considering it's supposed to be a strong draft for big men. It would also be nice because it's our mortal enemy the Lakers' pick we'd be receiving. However, there is some benefit to getting the pick a year later in that we won't have to pay whomever we draft until 2023 as opposed to 2022.

Considering how many young players we just added to the roster this season, I'm not sure we need a high-profile rookie who would require at least some PT next season.

The timing of the pick might also be important if it is supposed to be trade bait for whatever team (NOR?) next decides to deal their star. Teams dealing for picks usually want to be able to draft their own guy and have the full four years of rookie deal control.

So how's that 2019 mock draft looking? Anyone?

Yep.  The best athlete doesn't always have the highest upside.  Fox should be a very good player though.

I'm guessing he has the lowest scoring average of anyone who ever led a team in scoring, for the '89 Miami Heat.

If that true, TP to you because I was wondering who held that record when I saw the Kings' numbers.

100% right!  The lowest average to ever lead a team in scoring, for a wretched expansion team. 13.8 ppg.

Fox would beat him at this rate though of course 90% of the season left makes that unlikely.

Fox, Hield, and Randolph (1, 2 and 4 ppg) all have more shots per game than points per game at the moment.  I can't imagine that holds and would expect all to start scoring more than 1 pps.  Hill at 27.6 mpg is also leading the team.  Fox is at 27.  Hield 24.  Skal 22.3.  Randoph 23.5.  I can't imagine those minute numbers stay that low either.

In other words nothing to see here 8 games into the season.  Now if it still like this around the all star break or trade deadline, then it might be worth following.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I remember this game distinctly from that awful inaugural season for the Heat.  Rory Sparrow leading the way with 10 points that night!

I believe it was the lowest point output in the shot clock era at that point.  It was also Bird's last game of the season (which was super depressing).
