The attacker apparently left his car, brandished imitation firearms and was yelling out "Allah Akbar". He was shot by police.

8 now confirmed dead.

Maybe we should consider limiting who can buy a truck?

Heavier regulations on pickup trucks now. Enough is enough.

Is that Allah Akbar thing confirmed? It's not reported in this link but I'm seeing some news reports saying he said it, others not acknowledging it at all.

I'm agnostic personally, but I always get nervous when these things aren't reported with certainty and it causes people to demonize a particular demographic.

Press conference just concluded said he said something but is neither confirming nor denying it was Allah Akbar.

An unnamed law enforcement officer is quoted as saying that.  I would call it semi-confirmed.
“When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

Leviticus 19:33-34

Oh okay that's you I guess.

I personally would call it completely unconfirmed. I'm not taking one NYPD officer's word for it. I'd believe it if there were multiple witnesses saying this. 1 cop? Nah no way. But that's just me of course.

I work just blocks away from where this happened, and am grateful I was home today. I watched it all unfold live and it was hard to listen to everything unfold. Prayers to the surviving victims and the families of the deceased.

Such a scary feeling to just never know when something like this can happen. In the last year, NYC has had the Times Square driver ram into people, the Union Square bomber, and now this.

We know places like the World Trade Center and Times Square are targets, but random places like a bike lane along the West Side Highway are threats for terrorism? Scary.

Boston Marathon, nightclub in Miami, concert in Vegas, schools/malls/theaters.... Scary indeed.
