If Bobby Portis is still around Mirotic might want a trade out of Chicago. He's not exactly the type of big the C's need (mediocre rebounder/rim protector) and he might be redundant with Marcus Morris coming back but he's got a team option on his contract for next season and could be cheap to acquire. Is he worth having a cup of coffee with?

I would say no because our front court should be stable for the next few years.  At the same time I think Brad could get a lot out of him in this system.  Mirotic has been a competent stretch 4  for three years in Chicago.  During that time the entire Bulls organization has been a joke.  I imagine that his efficiency would go up across the board with our team.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
He can veto any trade, and he said he wants to be in a situation where he can get good minutes. I don't think he's going to see any minutes once Brad realizes how terrible his defense is lol.

He can’t be traded until January 15th at the earliest, regardless.

His salary is too large for us to reasonably trade for given the current roster.  If we’re granted the disabled player exception and sign or trade for someone with it pretty quickly who makes a moderate salary ($5.5-8.5 million), I could be persuaded to then trade that player and Yabusele for Mirotic in late January.  (Assuming he’d accept the trade).

I'd rather have Portis than Mirotic. Mirotic has a two-year, $27 million contract that looks like an over pay for a mediocre scorer that can't do much else.

I'd rather Portis.  Marcus Morris could mentor him along.

I think Smart and Baynes could keep Portis in line pretty well!

For all the hand-wringing that goes on about "culture" I'm a little surprised posters still want to bring in a guy who knocked out his teammate in practice.

They should send him to Phoenix for Bledsoe.

Cue the 3 way trade ideas where we get Bledsoe for Smart somehow, and play a nutso Irving/Bledsoe/Brown/Tatum/Horford lineup

Agreed.  Marcus Morris has the mediocre rebounder/rim protector role locked up.

I'm always amazed as what little respect and admiration Marcus Smart gets from some C's fans.

I'd love to have a dirt-dogish culture again.  I actually would trade minimal pieces for Portis.  He's an intense guy, he can play basketball, and he wouldn't be punching people with Morris, Baynes, and Smart around.  Plus, the last guy I heard punched a teammate was Jordan.

Fantasy Basketball fanatics. Most fans know what Smart can bring to the table.
