New information on Hayward surgery. As good as doctors could hope. Clean break, no ligament damage. Prognosis is good. Best case? March

Man, it'd be so good to see him again this season.

After surgery tonight, Boston's Gordon Hayward is unlikely to return this season, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.

I'll believe the agent over Lynch.  Sucks that he's done for the season.

Gotta keep in mind the "unlikely" part.  Who knows how it can go.  You have to see how he looks after some time.  I definitely don't think anyone should expect it though.

"unlikely" leaves small possibility he can come back. I'll take it.

People can talk about timelines today but really it's all up to Gordon now...how quickly he can recover and go through the rehab to strengthen his ankle again. As Kobe alluded to in his instagram post, his mental strength will be a big factor in pushing through those barriers during the recovery process. That will determine when he will return. Luck will also play a part in how quickly the injury heals.

Woj bomb is very reliable.

But if I recalled, he was incorrect over Hayward's free agency decision.  ???

it's Danny ainges smoke screen. Get teams thinking he's not coming back so they can't watch plan against him with sufficient time

It took 247 days, or 8 months, for Paul George to come back from his equally nasty leg injury, and people were amazed by how quickly he got back on the court. Gordon will be out for the entire season, we should just face that as our reality as Celtics fans. It was a miserable fluke play that cost us what could have been a special season. We all need to mourn now, get it out of the way, enjoy watching the younger guys develop, and really look forward to next season when we will be adding Hayward to a stacked team with other experienced wings.

This team was not winning the title this year as constructed.  We all know how the NBA works.  Best case scenario is to let Hayward get a full year recovery, develop our talent, build on the roster and b ready to strike with vengeance next year where everyone projected we would be ready anyway

If I remember correctly, even though Hayward's choice was Boston, his agent told everyone Hayward hadn't decided yet, so that's what half the media including Woj was reporting.

Unlikely is better than a definite "no way he comes back this year", and it all depends on Haywwrd so we'll see how it goes.

Georges wasn't equally as nasty. George broke both the tibia and fibula and was a compound fracture and required emergency surgery
