Do we keep Tatum at starting 4 and move someone to 3,
or move Tatum to starting 3 and let someone else play at 4 until Moris is back.

Gonna be tough to say without Morris. Tatum probably plays the 4, Brown the 3, Smart starts at the 2. Then when Morris comes back, Smart goes back to the bench.

Irving, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Baynes

For four reasons Baynes has to be the one IMO;
- He is our best rim protector
- He is our best rebounder
- He is good enough player to play 25 minutes
- He is a veteran

What happens when Horford has to sit down? How about Baynes?

Baynes had 5 fouls in 19 minutes. As decent as he was, you cannot start him nor take away Horford's backup.

Starting 5: Kyrie-Brown-Tatum-Horford-Baynes
2nd unit: Rozier-Smart-Semi-Morris-Theis

Stevens seems intent on not playing Theis ever. During the pre-season, he was always one of the last players to enter the game and last night he didn't even get the nod over Semi or Larkin. Yabusele was out, but he was always ahead of him in the pre-season as well. Hopefully, Stevens can get over it and play the actual effective player a few minutes here and there.

As for the  starting rotation - with Morris back - I see: Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Morris, Horford. Smart is still too important as that first jolt off the bench, but he will start for the next week or two for sure.

I would go radical and throw Daniel Theis out there at PF.

Irving - Brown - Tatum - Theis - Horford

Theis is an NBA rookie, but has more professional experience than any rookie we have on the roster. We could use that experience until Marcus Morris comes back. This also keeps Baynes and Smart coming off the bench, providing energy and toughness.

PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

(Kyrie, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford) for the next few weeks. This puts a ton of strain on our bench and Terry Rozier especially. Our bench is really weak and small at the guard spot without Smart leading it (Larkin, Rozier, Semi, Yabu/Thies, Baynes).

(Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Morris, Horford) after Morris comes back. We're need Tatum's shooting in the starting lineup now, and this lineup gives our bench a bit more of a punch with a Smart + Rozier backcourt (Smart, Rozier, Semi, Yabu/Thies, Baynes).

My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Until Morris is back - Irving, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Baynes
After Morris is back - Irving, Brown, Tatum, Morris, Horford

I don't like going with Smart, Brown, and Tatum in the starting lineup (unless Irving is out).  That is just too small on the wings overall and not nearly enough rebounding.  Plus, Smart still can't hit the broad side of the barn and I think he would feel more duty to try and score as a starter.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

6 freaking minutes! Geez, I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Sigh, I think I would go with Irving, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Baynes

Bring, Rozier, Smart, Morris and Theis off the bench to bring some tenacity and nastiness.

It's probably matchup dependent, but I think you'll see Kyrie, Smart, Brown, Tatum, and Horford for the most part until Morris gets back, who should replace Smart in the starting lineup.

Don't like the idea of starting Baynes.

The objective hasn't changed.  Brad still needs to build a team.  The positive - if there is any - it gives him and Danny more opportunity to evaluate the back end of the roster.  There will be minutes available to check out Nader/Theiss, Semi etc.

I think this team was a 2 year project even with Hayward playing.  But the team development goes on and it's still a playoff team that could finish in the top half of the seeds.

Agreed. This also allows us to have Morris provide scoring off the bench and have Theis get some minutes backing up Baynes.
