Any chance we see the Cavs purposely try for the 4/5 seed down the stretch to avoid the Celtics in the 2nd Round? At this point that seems like our best bet.

I don't see why it should make any difference to them who they run into at what stage in the playoffs. At least from the Cavs point of view.

Donovan Mitchell took 35 shots tonight! THIRTY-FIVE!! He's good but if Jayson hoisted up as much shots as he does per game I think he'd easily be ROY

Nick Young to the rescue.  Wish he was a Celtic.  Catches fire against a Hawks team that deliberately tanked again, but carries himself as if he just individually won Game 7.

Wow, an MCL injury with an MRI tomorrow to determine severity. IIRC, that was pretty much the same freak injury that took Durant out for around 20 games last year, which would be devastating for the Warriors.

Too bad we’ve had such an injury plagued year. I think the title is really up for grabs.

Houston Rockets could win it all this year.

Would 20 games be difficult, or devastating, though?  There's 10 left in the season, the first round will be a cakewalk, and he'll get extra rest in the playoffs.  I'd be concerned if he's not 100% after, even it's anything more than a mild sprain.  But otherwise, they'll cruise.  Houston/Harden have been chokers in the playoffs.  CP should help, but crazy as it sounds, I'd still pick GSW to win the West with even a hobbled Steph Curry.

Boy, there are A LOT of seeding implications for teams in both conferences.

In the East, there's only a 3.5 game difference between the 4 seed and the 8 seed. And in the West, WOW, the 3 seed is just 4.5 games ahead of the 9 seed, and only a 1.5 game difference between the 4th and 7th seeds in the West (and that is huge considering where you finish could mean either playing a team like Houston/Golden State, or Minnesota/OKC/Spurs - Spurs w/o Kawhi possibly).

It unfortunately does look likely that CLE snags that 3 seed, so even if Boston advanced past the first round, they meet CLE in the 2nd round. Oh well.

But I'm actually perfectly fine drawing Miami in the first round. I'd honestly much rather play them than the Bucks or Wizards first round, even though Miami won't be easy either.

It does seem like Cleveland has righted the ship enough to hold onto the #3 seed.

And if Boston was completely healthy I have no doubts they could win that series easily. Unfortunately the Celtics are not very healthy, thus I suspect Cleveland would win a potential series with Boston.

I'm not terribly worried by this, though, as our future is bright.  But it would have been nice to be the team that once again forces LeBron to tuck tail and leave Cleveland.

Yeah, with Kyrie and Smart back, I think win or lose, we could at least give CLE a legitimate series and push them to 6, maybe 7 games. (And who knows, maybe win it?)

However, as much as I've loved our run recently with the rookies and guys like Morris+Rozier stepping up, if we go into the Cavs series w/o Kyrie and Smart, we're getting swept lol.

Makes me wish they had looked at Kyrie's knee a little earlier and so if he got the small surgery earlier this month, he'd definitely be back in times for the playoffs (1st round), where unfortunately now that's still a legit question mark it seems.

Maybe a gentleman's sweep. Morris may have his breakout game and steal one in Cleveland. But Celtics will probably get dismantled at the TD Garden to conclude their season.
