Embiid and Simmons schooled clips in LA.
Jordan put up some horrible numbers vs Embiid
Embiid a plus 23, 32 pts, 16 rebounds
Simmons, 22 and 12 boards
Covington 31 and 6 with 4 steals
Poor Doc, I wont mention how bad his son shot the ball
Best part. Embiid played 36 minutes.
Covington has been playing really well. Be interesting to see if that affects his renegotiation and extension.
Clips missing a lot of firepower now. Gallo, Teo, and Pat Beverly,
Those are theirs best shooter, best passer and best perimeter defender - 2,5 starters
But those guys history suggests they are expected to miss some games too.
Is Gallo the least good big buck free agent signing (+20 mils $) from this summer so far?
Yeah, that Gallo signing was risky for sure.
I'd say George Hill is a close second at 3 years/$57M. He was supposed to stabilize that young Sacramento team, but instead, his defense has tailed off and his eFG% is 8 points lower than his career average - and he's just a few months away from being 32. Right now his contract looks near-untradeable.
G. Hill is right up there. He was signed in a 2 fold manner
1. We give you the big contract, you teach Fox how to be a starter.
2. We trade you to a playoff team when we think he can take over the job/get a good offer once someone gets injured/we just tank blatantly
It is still early to bury the hope, but:
Remember this:
"Utah was limited to offering Hill -- who is making $8 million in the final season of his contract -- the rest of its cap space this season and an extension of three years with annual raises of 7.5 percent. Therefore, the best offer Utah could make Hill was for $88.3 million to be committed to the Jazz through the 2019-20 season, which computes to a three-year, $74.7 million extension plus the $13.6 million of available cap space this season."
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18789802/george-hill-utah-jazz-discussing-last-minute-contract-extensionNow that would be truly scary for all sides except Hill, as it is an even worse deal (for the Jazz) and it had some Gordon Hayward (resigning) connotations.
