Because I'm also waiting for the game and don't have anything better to do, I made a ranking of all notable NBA players (85 players, Smart didn't make the cut). I put them into tiers (A: 15 players (I think there is a drop off after this group of 15), B: 19 players, C: 23 players, D: 27 players) and I placed the players in order for every position, and even their natural position is subjective of course.

Point Guard

Tier A: Westbrook (1), Curry (2), Wall (3), Irving (4)
Tier B: Paul (5), Lowry (6), Thomas (7), Lillard (#8), Conley (9)
Tier C: Dragic (10), Walker (11), Bledsoe (12), Jrue Holiday (13), Rondo (14), Teague (15)
Tier D: G. Hill (16), Rubio (17), Payton (18), Rose (19), Lin (20), Teodosic (21)

Shooting Guard

Tier A: Harden (1)
Tier B: K. Thompson (2), DeRozan (3), Beal (4)
Tier C: McCollum (5), E. Gordon (6), Wiggins (7), Batum (#8), Bradley (9), D. Booker (10)
Tier D: Oladipo (11), Middleton (12), L. Williams (13), Reddick (14), T. Evans (15)

Small Forward

Tier A: James (1), Durant (2), Leonard (3), Antetokounmpo (4), Butler (5), George (6)
Tier B: Hayward (7)
Tier C: Porter (#8), H. Barnes (9), Gay (10)
Tier D: Ariza (11), Gallinari (12), Iguodala (13), T. Harris (14), Crowder (15)

Power Forward

Tier A: A. Davis (1)
Tier B: Griffin (2), Draymond Green (3), Anthony (4), Millsap (5)
Tier C: Love (6), J. Parker (7), Aldridge (#8), Porzingis (9), Ibaka (10)
Tier D: B. Simmons (11), A. Gordon (12), Markieff Morris (13), Randolph (14), T. Young (15)

Center

Tier A: Gobert (1), Towns (2), Cousins (3)
Tier B: Jokic (4), Embiid (5), M. Gasol (6), Whiteside (7), Horford (#8), Jordan (9)
Tier C: B. Lopez (10), Drummond (11), Nurkic (12), Howard (13)
Tier D: Vucevic (14), Capela (15), Monroe (16), M. Turner (17), Adams (18), Mason Plumlee (19)

Have fun discussing and criticizing these rankings.

You rankings/tiers are very strange to me.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Point Guard: Chris Paul should be Tier A

Shooting Guard: Klay Thompson should be in Tier A. Devon booker in Tier B

Small Forward: I know I'm probably on my own on this one, but the Greek Freak should be in Tier B.

Power Forward: I could see Draymond Green being in Tier A. Kevin Love in Tier B.

Center: Looks good

klay Thompson is highly overrated. The only reason he scores so well is because he has curry green and durant attracting double teams, leaving him open. Put Thompson on the kings or pistons and he scores much less efficiently and effectively
I could see a team giving him the max thinking he's a superstar then highly regretting it

Same with green. He isn't a tier A

I had to check to see if OP was that guy who Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing loves Elfrid Payton when I saw that.

Why? What do you think is most inaccurate?

I had Smart as a SG and just behind Reddick and Evans. If Smart plays the same level during the season as he has done in pre-season than he would make the list.

Why is Chris Paul rank B in point guards? I mean, sure, you can make the claim, but do you have any argument backing it?

We all know his playoff career is a disappointment, but his skills and understanding of the PG position are elite.

To me he looks a little bit slow on the court. His scoring is on the low end in comparison to the other Tier A and B players. I don't think it's really a choice (in unselfishness), because if he's indeed limited in his ability to get to the rim then his efficiency would take a hit if he takes more (jump)shots. All players above him can go to a higher (scoring) level when needed to with exception to Gobert. But Goberts defensive presence has a massive impact on the game.
