From everything I've read about the 2018 NBA Draft, there seems to be a consensus of the top 5 prospects that is in a clear tier above the rest. The crazy irony is that I can't find any consensus on the order of the top 5, nor who would go number 1. It seems like I've seen a mock draft with each one of these guys as the possible number 1. And every day, someone posts new footage/articles about any one of these guys that show off some ridiculous level of talent.

For those that have been out of the loop, this is the top tier of the draft (in no order).

DeAndre Ayton
Marvin Bagley
Mo Bamba
Luka Doncic
Michael Porter Jr.

FWIW, my number one right now is gearing towards one of the two centers.. but frankly, all 5 are big enough to play power forward at the least.

Anyway, my question for the more knowledgeable draft-niks out there is, is there anyone else that could insert themselves into this top tier by next June? Please give details or a mini-scouting report

I don't know who it will be, but someone will break into the top five. Someone will have a crazy good season and ride a wave of hype into the top five.

Way too early to get this obsessive about it.  Let the college season play out and then we'll talk mocks.

This is why Ainge punted the laker pick if it falls out of top 5.

I got the feeling the top five had 2 tiers

Tier 1
Porter Jr.
Bagley
Doncic

Tier 2
Ayton
Bamba

So if anyone is breaking into the top 5 the are replacing Bamba or Ayton. For me that player might be Robert Williams from Texas A&M

Miles Bridges definitely could, as could Williams or Carter Jr

My top 3 picks in no order are Jaren Jackson Jr. from Michigan State. He is a 6'10 big man with 7'4.5 wingspan, and can shoot the floor. A lot of NBA draft pundits are calling him the next Myles Turner, although when I looked for the articles last week, they all seemingly disappeared lol. He's gonna be a solid perfect stretch five that can run the floor, shoot, and use his length to protect the rim.

I feel like he would fit perfectly in Atlanta Hawk's offense.

Miles Bridges is also another solid prospect who could potentially alter the game by his 6’6 forward with killer athleticism who hit an impressive 39 percent of his three-pointers on five attempts per game as a freshman.

As a freshman, Bridges finished with 66 turnovers to 58 assists, which is definitely pretty bad, but alot of people argued he was given more of a higher role in the offense, than normally perceived. Actually similar numbers to what Tatum threw out at Duke, and he ended up as the 3rd pick.

Robert Williams also has an impressive wingspan of 7'5, and can space the floor while providing elite rim protection with really high athleticism.

I think you are probably right on this so far but I would say I would take Ayton over everyone except maybe Doncic if he stays locked in and begins to work on the mechanics of his shot.

If the picks conveys, he probably trades it anyway..

There's a lot of players that might surprise. I like what I've seen from Wendell Carter he has a lot of nice tools

I think we will have only one draft at the 25-28 range... pointless to talk about lottery picks now

I'd love to get Ayton as our stretch-5 of the next 10 years, and since the Lakers won't make the playoffs there is technically a chance of us getting the 2/3 pick if the Lakers get the right ping-pong ball.  But they aren't going to be a bottom-5 team (barring some injury) so odds are we are looking to next-year's lottery.

I honestly don't get how Deandre Ayton isn't the consensus #1 pick at this point.  He's a 7'1" ripped athlete with a 7'5" wingspan, great coordination and he can shoot free throws and live ball jumpers all the way out to the three point line. UNICORN !

He reminds me a lot of Karl Anthony Towns and I don't think that's a stretch comparison.

Lakers started off 6-4 last year.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Speedy Claxton rise into the top 5.
