They should get at least 50 good games out of him over the course of the contract. Good for them  :D

Greg Oden played more in his first season than Joel has in his career.

Embiid has played about 12.6% of games available

Sixers are dummies. They should have waited and seen if Embiid can stay healthy for a while.

Philly has to put their eggs in the Embiid basket.  They made (I think) the right move choosing him over Parker (?), Exum (definitely), Gordon, Smart or Randle.   But he is feast or famine.

Despite the upside of both Fultz and Simmons, without Embiid the Sixers are lottery-fodder for another 3 years.  With Embiid healthy, they are challenging for a playoff berth this year and growing into a contender in 3-5 years.  The extension is a gamble they have to take -- needed to show teammates and fans that they are finally on the road to winning -- and are willing to invest in the long haul.

The Bucks chose Parker over Embiid.  Imagine if they had the Greek Freak and Embiid.

Embiid would have been lucky to get a 4 year 80 million dollar deal

NBA league business side is a joke

Yeah, he's (almost) literally going to get paid in millions per year how many games he's played in his first three years. Yikes. I mean, Philly pretty much has to do it, but still, what a risk.

That's kind of where I'm at. Why not wait until the end of the season to see if he can play a good amount of games this year? Worst case scenario is you're maxing him out at the end of the season rather than now.

Apparently there are a lot of clauses in the contract in case he can't get on the court.

They'd have a different player who can't get on the court instead of their current one?
