I think it's very unfair to label this guy as a bust, he has had two different freak injuries that has lost him 2 years of his career, could easily have happened to Smart. I really think though if Exum could do it all again he would have either gone to college for a year or played in Australia for a season to build up his confidence and his body before declaring for the draft, he is still extremely talented and I hope he can make good his potential.

why is it unfair? There’s Been debates on this board for almost a decade about whether Danny would have drafted oden or Durant and it’s all based on odens injury and Durant’s rise. Injuries and luck are part of the game. That coin flip loss in 2014 saved the Celtics.

Oden's injury issues were all related (biomechanics) red flags, Exum's were both unrelated and essentially freak occurrences. Jordan broke his foot when he was a NBA sophomore it didn't detract/define his career, Exum is still very young and may have a fantastic career.

I really think the coin flip debate is superfluous, because IMO Ainge still takes Smart either way.

That was LarBrd33. Poor guy played a bunch of fantasy basketball, but never really understood the game.

Smart delayed his growth by his ankle sprain alot but he worked relentless and made through it, Excum on the other hand just can't make it, a good lesson

Given all the hype Exum received from Chad Ford on ESPN and DraftExpress, I think its very fair to label him a bust.

When Exum has played he hasn't looked very skilled and still can't shoot.  He's a bust, injuries or not.  And whether he played in Australia or wherever, he still would have gotten injured.

too soon to label him a bust. i am not sure why we need to make such decisions on players so quickly. it is all premature.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Disgusting.  I don't like Smart.  Another undersized shooting guard who can't shoot.

Now yeah, to be fair, hindsight is 20/20, but still funny. And obviously this wasn't the only bad comment about Smart that night.

Ha I do miss his posts though. He brought some unique (albeit zany) thought in almost every post. When the whole world was looking to create some hot take, he had the hottest ones.

Re: Exum- I never saw what others did. Probably b/c I didn't do enough research, but I can't remember being wowed by him. Smart impressed me at Ok State. He was the guy I wanted the entire time. I just remember being psyched that we passed on Randle, who I thought was overrated.
