Maybe they could make it an all - STAR weekend.

Get it?

So the captains pick stars for their teams.

I pick Tim Tebow, Gisele Bundchkin, Michele Obama, and Kate Middleton, to play on my team. With the Pope and Dalai Llama as coaches.

Ok that's stupid.

The top vote-getters in each conference still have to limit their choices to their own conference, right?  East vs. West still has some rivalry value.
I don't think so. ESPN had an All-Star mock draft and the captains they had just chose players randomly, regardless of who was elected by fans as starters and who got selected by coaches.
Too bad.  Back in the 80's I used to root for the East team because I really despised the Lakers (shocker).  Usually the 2nd half of those games is when actual competitive juices would flow.  Really loved those East lineups with Bird, MJ and Isaiah.

The ASG I saw last year was a total waste of time.

All you really need to do is watch the last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter of these ASGs.

This is awesome. Instead of a game where nobody plays defense (and why should they, that might get someone injured in an exhibition game,) we get to watch a 3 or 4 hour reality TV special where the all stars are forced to beef with each other because picking teams  playground style is guaranteed to make someone feel slighted.

Before anyone asks, no I'm not sure if I'm being sarcastic or not.

Curry said he would pick all his teammates if he was chosen captain

Looks like the under representation of small city all star selections problem has been solved
