You know better, Roy. Tatum would have chosen #0 if it were available when he was drafted. It was after AB was traded that he was able to go back to his preferred jersey #.

Notice the number Josh Smith wanted to wear as a Hawks rookie.
So Josh Smith, born 12/5/1985, wanted to wear #42 after he was drafted by the Hawks in 2004, and at first he got it.
Until the Hawks decided to sign franchise great Kevin Willis, who had worn #42 for 10+ seasons with the Hawks, to provide some veteran leadership.
Kevin Willis played his first game as a Hawk on 10/26/84, wearing #42 for over a year before Josh Smith was even born. Talk about seniority.
