I recall reports saying that Fultz didn't shoot the ball as well as expected during his workout with us. Now I'm wondering if the reason is his change in form.

“From what I’m told, Fultz didn’t shoot the ball exceptionally well in his workout in Boston,” Jeff Goodman said.

This is from Mike Schmitz, who provides video comparison of the dramatic change in mechanics/release point

Some notable individuals commented...

Evan Daniels - Way different ... that's a push shot. I've never seen him do that

Kevin O'Connor - Fultz's jumper looked different in summer league too. It's nice he's trying to change his mechanics, but this could make it worse.

Aaron Bruski - strange to see a good shooter have such poor balance at the line - doesn’t bode well for a drastic release point change

Well, if there is a time to screw around with your shot, its now.  Not during the season.

Video comparison certainly shows a drastic change, though.  The training camp shot or wherever that's from, looks awkward as heck.

@Derek Bodner-
Brett Brown reiterates he's not comfortable with where Markelle Fultz's jumper is, and that they're going to work to return to previous form

So happy to not have this headache (or the headache of Isaiah's hip). So happy to have Kyrie and Tatum.

Yeah, if you assume that the BKN pick and LAL/Sac pick cancel each other out. You literally have a swap of IT/Fultz (plus Crowder) for Kyrie/Tatum. I can't say I am disappointed with this outcome...but I guess only time will tell.

I remember seeing a noticeable difference during the first Summer League game and finding it truly puzzling. Not sure why he was messing with a good thing.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

76ers are in unchartered territory here.  A guy they drafted is able to play, now they gotta train him...

And Simmons who is now able to play, but still has a broken shot.

76ers coach Brett Brown said he's not comfortable with where Markelle Fultz's jump shot is.
"All by himself, he pivoted out over the summer and tried to make it better and tweak it, and he’s in a place right now where we’re gonna try to remind him where his shot was and try to bring that back into probably more a tighter shot, bring his release point down a little bit, bring the ball closer to his body," Brown said. Defenders were sagging off Fultz in Sunday's intra-squad scrimmage and this news comes on the heels of a report that he's also trying to improve his free throw stroke.

Not sure why he was messing with a good thing.

Because he is dumb.

So glad we don't have him.

should make it interesting for a very young team should they get into a close game and need their primary ballhandlers to hit FTs down the stretch.  don't foresee a positive outcome for them.

TP for posting that - very relevant to the thread.

However, I am not sure I totally buy the explanation. If Fultz has shoulder pain every time he attempts a free throw, then I am very glad we didn't take him. Imagine how much agony he will be in attempting 3s  ::)

Bad shoulder=bad
Messing with good form=bad
