Normally I wouldn't even reply here because I'd think I'd have no idea. But for some reason 33 and 7 is screaming out at me. Not 31 and 7, not 33 and 8... 33 and 7.

Kyrie played 2 regular season games against NY last season with Rose starting, and logged:
* 29 points on 54% shooting
* 23 points on 56% shooting

He played 4 regular season games against Boston last season with Isaiah starting, and logged:
* 23 points on 50% shooting
* 32 points on 71% shooting
* 28 points on 53% shooting
* 19 points on 39% shooting

Based on this history against Rose and Isaiah, plus the increased role he's likely to get in Boston, I expect Kyrie will have some very nice (and quite efficient) offensive nights aginst Cleveland this season.

In game 1 Cleveland will have a pretty poor defensive player (in Rose) trying to fit in to a defensive system he's not familiar with, on a team that's not especially great defensively to begin with.  This means Rose's already poor defence should be even worse then normal.

Kyrie on the other hand will be coming in as the #1 option (for the first time since he was 21 years old in his 3rd season) so he should get more touches then ever.  He also has a lot more to prove then Rose does.

We also know for fact that Kyrie to perform on the big stage, and the stage doesn't get much brighter then opening night, #1 seed vs #2 seed, Celtics vs Cavs, Kyrie vs Lebron.

I'm going to predict he dominates his matchup against Rose on opening night, putting up 33 points, on 54% shooting and leads Boston to a win over the IT-less Cavs.

First, who cares about how many points he scores if we still lose, and second, I think the more amusing question is, "Kyrie's first game - how many assists?" Lol.  Hopefully he'll break even on the old assist-to-turnover ratio ::).

AST:TO ratios over the past two seasons:
---
Kyrie Irving: 2.19
Isaiah Thomas: 2.20
Marcus Smart: 2.30

Man, our offense is going to suffer SO dramatically with Kyrie as our PG...

2-10 from the field (with one being the game winning 3) 9-10 from the free throw line, to go with 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Fair enough.  Thomas and Smart don't dribble the air out of the ball, though :-\.

Thomas doesn't?  Funny, because when we initially traded for him, all I recall reading on this forum was comments about how much people didn't want him because he's a black hole, a chucker and a ball stopper...who does exactly that!

As for Smart, well no...he doesn't dribble the air out of the ball.  But that's just because he is one of the worst ball handling point guards I've ever laid my eyes on in the history of professional basketball.  No seriously, I legitimately think that Al Horford is a better passer AND ball handler then Marcus Smart! :P

While I do think that IT was a ball hog, I don't believe that he's nearly in Kyrie's class in that respect.  Plus, unlike Irving, Thomas can actually play off the ball, whereas Kyrie will routinely dribble out the clock in isolation situations, which, admittedly, sometimes works, but most of the time simply does not.  In that respect they're completely different players, offensively.

As for Smart, well, yeah...I figured that that was pretty self explanatory :laugh:. Between him and Rozier in terms of decision making, well, no wonder Ainge is looking at Bogut, lol.  Come to think of it, with Rozier and Tatum on the second unit - yikes.  Our bench might have more black holes than a documentary/special narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson :laugh:.
