I was in the Dominican Republic for the 1985 NCAA Championship game and remember it well as it was the first time I'd really gotten into rooting for a college team throughout the tournament.  Believe it or not, I was all over Villanova that season and they were my pick for the championship.  I was on vacation with a friend in the DR and we watched the perfect game unfold for the Wildcats.  It was great.   Rollie was quite a character and it was compelling to watch him throughout that tournament. I don't think I was ever as invested in March Madness either before or after.  And I loved it when the C's got Ed Pinckney.

rip. a true loss for everyone. very sad news indeed.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I was a bit too young, didn't start following basketball til 2-3 years later. Really need to sit down and watch "the perfect game" some day, we'll probably need to duplicate it to get past the Warriors  :D
