Dems want to pretend this never happened, hence why they're so focused on taking down statues of their very own history

No. It's historically illiterate, it's irrelevant to this thread, and it's only purpose is to talk crap about the "other" side. Stop it.

Please read Dinesh D'Souza book:  The Big Lie, Exposing the Nazi Roots of the American Left.

He makes a compelling argument that the KKK, Slavery, Nazi, Communism, Socialism and Antifa are all part of the left-wing movement.

It would be great to hear a debate after you read the book.

Has anyone told all the Neo-Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists who showed up for a rally called "Unite the Right"?

Sorry, I am not going to read the book so I will not be as informed as you but I want to try and clarify;  so it is the left that hate Jews, not the Nazis, and it is the left that think black skinned people are inferior to whites, not the KKK?

Can you provide a little more detail on the basis of the "argument"?

Dems were the slave owners.

Dems fought for Jim Crow laws

Hillary's hero Robert Byrd was grand dragon in KKK

She called blacks super predators

Margaret Sanger? Half of the black population has been exterminated by abortion.

The breaking up of the black family with welfare. Look up statistics

One last time: stay on topic and try to elevate the level of debate. The rules are going to be enforced more vigorously going forward.

That is another example of exactly what I am trying to articulate.  You called the Charlottesville protesters "morons", not racists;  very subtle difference (note I am not calling them unite the right because I am not sure they speak for the formal group)

The "racist" is implicit isn't it? We're talking about white supremacists chanting Nazi slogans. While the vast majority of what I saw was Anti-Semitic, they clearly hate all manner of decent people (racial minorities, gays, and if history is any indication, the disabled and Catholics as well.)

As I said, I am not calling you out but no, I don't think morons implies racists to everyone.  You explained and called them out as racist, hateful, morons and didn't add any yeah but Hillary or yeah but AntiFa.  I think you get my point.  I suspect you want this element out of the republican party, out of everything.   I am with you.  I was just trying to explain how even the slightest bit of ambiguity or euphemism can make a big difference as shown by the David Duke reaction to two different Trump statements.

Trump said all the obligatory "racism is bad", "I condone all bigotry", etc., but as soon as he added "but the other side is bad too", David Duke accepted that as support and cheered Trump on.  Whether Trump intended to or not (and I think in his case he did intend to), even that small amount of acquiescence was viewed as a win by the KKK.  For racism as extreme as was on display in Charlottesville, there can be no "yeah but".  At any level however small, any concession to the other side in the face of this level of racism is going to add a few molecules of oxygen to this dangerous fire.  I know I am sounding very dramatic in this but we are seeing it with the extreme (whatever these racists are), we are seeing it with Trump in general, and we could see it with AntiFa.

It needs to stop.

At a protest over the weekend where Black Lives Matter activists and Antifa fanatics showed up together, one Antifa member wound up punching a Black Lives Matter activist after the Black Lives Matter member chastised the Antifa radicals for hiding behind their masks.

The BLM activist stood in front of the Antifa crowd, bellowing, “Take the mask off! Take the mask off.” His compatriots started chanting, “Mask off! Mask off! Mask off!”

That prompted the Antifa crowd to start yelling at the black man, “He’s a cop! He’s a cop! He’s a cop!”

One masked male white member of Antifa got right in the black man’s face, then punched him directly in the face, prompting another BLM activist to start yelling, “You ... hit ’em! You ... hit 'em! Take the mask off!”

I'm not sure if you're quoting me because you think I want the thread shut down, but I don't. I'd just like a factual discussion w/o every other message coming down as some spam about CNN, "the left is racist" or another generic insult towards the other side. Let's talk about Boston and/or Charlottesville.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm not sure 'morons' is really a good descriptor of the protesters at Charlottesville:

That's the guy who was in charge of the whole thing.

However, there are some FANTASTIC renouncements from other Nazis calling Kessler...well what Nazis generally call people. Communists, secret democratic operative, Jewish.

"Morons" works just fine. They're not exactly high intellect.

Jason Kessler was a big lefty until Nov of last year when Hillary lost the election

Was very much involved with occupy

Kinda makes you wonder, eh?

I don't believe this is accurate. He wasn't born a nazi, but he didn't just 'become one' in November 2016, he was politically active before that.

I don't know how you mean this. Do you mean he protested, do you mean he organized, was a leader..what does 'very much involved' mean in this context?

Makes me wonder what, exactly?

Marching alongside AntiFa is only slightly better than marching next to a white supremacist.

Wow. I couldn't disagree more.

I'm not a fan of Antifa as I've stated before. But they are worlds apart from white supremacists.

Or maybe I don't fully understand what it is that white supremacists want, or what Antifa wants.

In any case, it's now clear to me that I need to take a break from Celticsblog for a while.

White supremacists want to take rights away from some people, sometimes violently.

AntiFa want to take rights away from people, sometimes violently.

Both are evil.  That one group hates based upon color and the other hates based upon creed doesn't make a huge difference.

White supremacists hate non-white people.  Antifa hates people who hate non-white people.

In my book, that's a significant difference.

Both want to violently strip rights from people they disagree with. That's enough of a similarity to make me dislike both groups.
