Good for Durant. I hope more and more athletes speak up about this.

Btw, this will have a Far, Far less impact on people hating Durant than him going to GSW did. If anything it will get many more people to like him.

Also, I have absolutely no respect for our current president, and I don't know how anyone can at this point.

You also have no idea what free markets are, and frankly I doubt you have ever even picked up a book about economics.

If a white athlete had said this about President Obama, you would have called it disrespectful, and likely would have called that person a racist.

The hypocrisy on this board is absolutely painful.

Once again, jumping to ignorant conclusions and generalizations (all wrong of course) instead of addressing the topic at hand.

Yes, I am the ignorant one.

You have stated that free markets require the people to not be free, yet i am the ignorant one.

The only reason you are able to type this out on a computer right now, is because of the free market.

Neither of us can prove whether those generalizations are true, and there is no "issue at hand".

I disagreed with President Obama on an extensive list of things, but you wouldn't hear that I didn't respect him, yet it is all vogue to disrespect President Trump.

But of course, as always, " because he's different".

The hypocrisy is terrible.

Where did I say anything at all about free markets?

(clue: I didnt!)

Like I said, ignorant, off topic generalizations.

Not in this thread, and now that I think about it, I think I have you confused with that hwangji fellow.

They have kicked me off of the NCE board, but they still let threads like these show, so when I got the chance to answer for things I have read, but couldn't respond to, I jumped.

I do apologize for that, that was pretty terrible of me.

Fair enough, TP for a reasonable and honest answer then.

So what?
Plenty of athletes have declined to visit the White House in the past because of political differences. It's simply not a big deal.
Celtics fan for life.

Have yet to see one reason supporting KDs claim that trump is racist
It's something most people can just see.  It's between the lines of just about everything he says and does.  So I assume either you and Trump are very like minded or you have some horrible racist radar.

He spent the week openly, repeatedly, and aggressively defending Neo-Nazi and KKK groups after they conducted what amounts to a domestic terrorist act last weekend.

The head of the KKK praised him and thanked him afterwards, as they promised that they haven't even begun yet with their racist and bigoted activities.

What more proof do you need?

Without using huge labels and detailing the reasons why maybe we could just agree to something more like this

When Obama was in office black people felt things were looking up?  I don't remember that being the CNN narrative during the final few years of the prior administration.

Revisionist history is my favorite kind of history.

It reminds me of the Chapelle skit

"I need to see video of Trump holding up two IDs saying out loud 'I hate black people' while his mother looks on and says 'That's my boy'"

As an "African-American" that voted for neither candidate, I wouldn't blatantly call Trump a racist, but he's exhibited some questionable behavior and poor choice of words. He settled allegations of housing discrimination (a settlement is not an admission of guilt I know). He had a controversial stance on the Central Park 5, questioned Obama's birth certificate, said things like "Look at my African-American" as if he's never engaged a black person before. His pitch to black people to vote for him was "What do you have to lose?". He's being openly endorsed, criticized and praised by confirmed racists, has defunded programs that counteract white supremacy organizations, saying there are "Very nice people." on both sides of the Charlottesville riots and etc.

But to your point, none of those makes him racist (at least not to me). Although surely you can understand why that narrative is being pushed.

Wow how do you not respect the president of the united states? What a low life. Disagree on political position is ok, but don't disrespect the president and the country

Way to get half the country to hate you Durant. Hope trump doesn't invite them
Respect is earned or lost.  President Trump is disrespected by many people from his own actions.

As for the White House visit, I have telling friends that I expected Trump to "cancel" the White House visits possibly as early as at the end of the NBA season.  He will "cancel" just before entire teams refuse the invite just like he "disbanded" the few advisory panels just before (or after actually) everyone quit them.  By the way, it is safe to say that all of those CEOs who bailed on his advisory panels also do not respect the President and he EARNED their disrespect.

You are right, I also do not see any reason supporting KDs claim that Trump is a racist.  Of course that could be because KD did not claim that he is a racist.
