At some point you at least have to wonder if trading for Kyrie while giving up IT, Crowder and a pick is a good idea. Is Irving an immature, locker room problem with an out of control ego? You at least have to consider this and do a ton of investigating to see if its true if you're thinking about trading for him.

Now, its extremely possible Irving just has personal issues going on with a team mate or two and has had it with the organization seeming to bow to the wishes of his team mates and doing things that Kyrie doesn't agree with. He could be a great team mate and great professional and hence someone you want to build around. Thats completely possible.

But you have to at least wonder if its not.

You don't realize these things take time, especially if you are trying to get reasonable value during the offseason?

George announced he would not resign in Indiana on June 18th. He was traded two weeks later on July 1st (where there actually was incentive to get the deal done at that point because of free agency and changing cap situations). Despite that many feel like the Pacers rushed and got a worse deal than they would have by waiting for the Celtics to sign Hayward in free agency for example.

Irving requested his July 22 (about 2.5 weeks ago). Now there are very few signings for major money with limited free agents and a dead time between free agency and training camp. You think the Cavs not racing him to trade him for pennies indicates they think it is a good idea to spend Lebron's final season under contract with a guy that has said he does not want to play with him?

I feel the same way, TP.  He has learned to from the biggest ego ever to grace the lockeroom, in LeBron.

Well unless you think Griffin is a liar, which I haven't seen many people speculating, we do know that he requested a trade shortly after the finals because Griffin shared that news in discussing his departure (and was working on trades involving Irving before he left). It was not made public for another couple of weeks after that.

Let's see what we reasonably know about Irving:

1. He cares more about himself than about winning. After all, he's asking for a trade to "be the man" from a team where The Man has made 7 straight NBA Finals. The knock on Cousins was that he couldn't win but that isn't as bad as someone who doesn't even care about winning IMO.

2. He's a freakin' moron. Anyone who believes the Earth is flat is just plain stupid in so many ways. Like a potential Darwin-award candidate stupid.

3. He appears to be a crappy teammate. Shutting out all of his teammates during a playoff run? That's a great way to destroy a locker room.

This guy is a cancer. Whoever is stupid enough to trade for him gets what they deserve.

I think this continues to torpedo his value also.

Indeed, Irving did request a trade in June, which would belie your statement earlier in the thread that its only been a couple weeks since July 22nd.  They've known about this for a while.

I wasn't a fan of acquiring Irving to begin with, but now I'd be upset if Danny did. That's extremely immature behavior bordering on the unbelievable for a star player in the midst of a run for the championship. What a whiny little b _____.

That diminishes his trade value for the Cavs.
