I was just thinking about the drama that could be in store during the draft lottery.

Let's say that after all the picks down to #4 have been announced and the Celtics (via the Brooklyn pick) and Sixers (via the Lakers' pick) are in the top three.

The league has the representatives from the final three teams stand next to each other, correct?  They're the big winners so they come down from their seats and stand ready to hear whether they get pick 1, 2, or 3.

How great would it be if they announce pick #3 and it's, let's say, the Bulls.  And it's down to the Celtics and Wyck standing next to the Sixers and say Fultz.

If the Brooklyn pick ends up going #2 then the Lakers' pick is #1 and does not convey to the Celtics due to the stipulations that it must be between 2-5.  So both teams receive a top two pick in the 2018 draft and there are smiles all around.

But if the Lakers' pick goes #2 it conveys to the Celtics, and the Brooklyn pick goes #1.  So Wyck would be handed BOTH placards and be the BIG BIG winner of picks 1 and 2.  And Fultz would be left standing there with his junk in his hand.

Oh man that would be hilarious.

TP for the cool thought.  I've watched numerous draft lotteries live on television (with only the 2017 one being satisfying), and never stopped to think of this "What If" situation.  It would be deeply satisfying!

Even if the Lakers' pick was #3 and it conveyed to the Celtics, with a Sixers representative left standing on the dais with nothing to show for it, that would be cool!

Interesting they have Marvin Bagley No.2. I always thought he was a surefire No 1.

I didn't watch the last draft lottery live, as the anxiety would have been too much for me. I may end up doing the same thing next year too. I ended up DVRing the CSNNE draft lottery special, and did laundry and washed dishes so that I could take my mind off of it. When I knew the lottery was over, I went onto espn.com for the quick results.

That would be amazing to watch Wyc accept both lottery cards at once, with the top two picks. Imagine the reactions from Scal and A. Sherrod if this scenario happens. Their reactions would break youtube records.

BTW, if the Celtics do manage to win the lottery and get those top two picks, then I would imagine Danny would get more calls than usual for a team that just won the lottery. Danny just proved that he is willing to trade the #1 overall pick. Would New Orleans be one of those teams that calls?

But wait a second. Not to throw rain on this parade but if I remember correctly (and maybe there's something I don't understand here) the pick that moved into the lottery this year was actually the Kings pick, but they had Philly go up to get it and the announcers immediately understood the swap had triggered, right?

So in this scenario would they just have the Celts and another team up there? Have they ever done this like this before?

They would have the Celtics and Sixers up there, because the pick would either belong to the Celtics or the Sixers depending on what slot it was in.  If it is 1 it goes to the Sixers, 2 or 3 it would go to the Celtics.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think I see what you're saying. They haven't revealed who has what yet so all the possibilities gotta be up there.

Theoretically, since they know the outcome already, if the C's were to receive two picks and the Sixers none, then they might try to avoid embarrassing the Sixers' representative and just have the C's rep and the third team's rep up there.

You'd know that the Sixers (via the Lakers' pick) was going to be either 2 or 3, and the C's pick (via the Nets) could be 1, 2, or 3.  So there would still be some drama.

But the NBA would want even more by having the Sixers' rep up there too I imagine.

Man, I'm really going to sacrifice something to the basketball Gods for us to get both the Brooklyn and the LA picks in the top 5.

My ultimate dream scenario is to get both Mohamed Bamba and DeAndre Ayton, and just have a Twin Towers of our own. Those two together moving forward, with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward (yes I left out IT, we don't know what his future holds) would be nasty!
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

You wouldn’t want one of Bamba or Ayton to put at the 5 and then 1 of Bagley or Porter to put at the 4? Thats my dream scenario

agree. Although bamba and ayton sounds entertaining on paper, there is a slight chance that we would end up like the sixers who had noel and okafor and all their centers benched because of positionless basketball. Although ayton is better jumpshooter than both okafor/noel, and bamba/ayton both have perimeter defense ability unlike okafor and to a lesser extent noel.

Bamba looks to be a longer and better noel, and ayton has a lot of upside. We wouldn't be in a bad situation, but id like a killer wing like porter. 6'10 sharp shooting athletic wings don't really populate the earth

If Zizic is any good, we probably wont need 2 OF bamba and ayton. but time will tell

And who in the heck runs this highpowered offense? I think we need one of these bigs and Doncic to make it all run..

Doncic seems legit but ever since bender flopped, I think I'd lean American. But doncic looks more legit than any euro in a while
