He gets to keep his current contract ($10m per for the next 2 or 3 years), he should be fine.

So Lawrence Frank used to be under Doc, but now Doc will be under him. Sweet.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Real GM has this headline: "Clippers Revoke Front Office Role From Doc Rivers" pretty harsh to me.
"People look at players, watch them dribble between their legs and they say, 'There's a superstar.'  Well John Havlicek is a superstar, and most of the others are figments of writers' imagination."
--Jerry West, on John Havlicek

if it was about money he should not have asked for control, a job he had no clue about.

Aren't we so lucky that Doc forced himself out of Boston, and we ended up with a draft pick and got Brad Stevens are out coach?  If Doc stayed around as our coach, I think we would be in a very different place right now.  Not only would we have Austin Rivers under contract, the team definitely wouldn't have overachieved as we have been last few years.  I always thought Doc was a coward for forcing himself out, especially when few years before that, he was saying he wanted to have long term stability for growing a culture with the same team, as Pop did with the Spurs.  Then, as soon as the rebuilding starts, he forced himself out.

Doc is only as good as his players but that is true of most coaches.   I do not think that it is true of Pop and CBS.

I don't think he had to force anything.  Seems like Ainge understood.
