IT, Crowder and possibly the Lakers pick is well worth Kyrie

1st it gives us a guard who has IMO the better ability to space and create all while scoring at will

2nd trading Crowder opens the door for Brown and Tatum to grow their game

Kyrie
Brown
Hayward
Morris
Horford

I can see that lineup taking a big step for Boston next season

Brown starting would be great and Tatum possibly growing into that 6th man roll would be much desired

Or.. you know.. just trading Crowder alone (maybe w/draft pick) for an upgrade elsewhere could help with that too.

And Isaiah had the better season last year, so I really don't see how trading him + others in a package for Irving really helps... Isaiah also fits CBS system better than Irving.

I only see Ainge trading IT only if what they offer him he's not happy. I could see a deal earlier than later in the season.

Well before everyone that piles on with the fact that they're at least not far apart and the additional assets huge in trading for Irving, let's at least recognize the hardest step is going from very good to great, and kudos for being impatient and willing to risk it for no real reason.

Swap point guards and force our youth out too soon, and we still go down 4-1 to Cleveland after a good season. And no chance against GS. We wouldn't get much better if at all trading one offensive minded all star PG for another.  So ride the horse we got. No moves just to make a move.

If Smart + Crowder & picks brings star talent at PF, then there's something interesting.

IMO Kyrie is superior offensively and hasnt hit his peak yet.

Those young players (Brown,Tatum and possibly OJ) need to play and grow. Boston cant keep everyone.

Im sure Kyrie can fit the system.

The future is brighter with this trade

I agree, BUT......

Cleveland is stronger/deeper this year and IT AND Crowder and Rozier could make LeBaby stay.

On top of that, trading the guy H and H came here to play with in IT?

Bad, Bad juju.

No thanks.

Irrelevant. Need to fill other holes before any marginal improvement at PG makes a difference.

Thomas, Crowder, Rozier and maybe Boston's 2018 1st is a reasonable trade for both teams.

That also means Boston can keep Smart next summer (which it can't do if it keeps Thomas, especially with Crowder and Rozier on the roster).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The Cavs are not trading with their main competitor in The East.

Yeah, Thomas, Crowder and Rozier works on the trade checker. Irving has a better contract than IT will get. $18-20 M for the next 3-4 years.

Basically, they can fit a third star under the cap with this deal for the next few years.

Ainge knows that, or he wouldn't be interested.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Not sure why so many are being completely unwilling to consider trading IT for Kyrie.

- Kyrie just turned 25
- he's arguably going to get better
- is a better long term piece than IT bevause of his age and primarily because of his contract.
- contract would let us add snither significant piece.
