I still need to see more from him. I can put my finger on how, when, and where he'll excel. His shooting comes and goes, he still forces at the rim, his handle is still a work in progress, his defense looks to be a strong point.

This is an important year for him, especially with Tatum around.

He's one of the twenty or so most physically gifted athletes in the league
He's very strong
He's a smart guy
He's coachable
He's a high character guy who will probably be a leader
He has an excellent work ethic
He errs on the side of being too aggressive
He finishes through contact
He's already a plus defender
He isn't afraid of the moment
He improved at a steady pace last year

I'm pretty sure he'll be an all star

Sell you. Imagine the Larry Hughes in Washington playing at that level but at the age of 20 on a rookie contract. His current growth rate doesnt solidify anything but flashes of potential  are clearly there

When he's 26 he'll make the all star team...(the starter got hurt)

Offense is not there yet...maybe he'll be like Bradley and just get a little better each year on offense while making a living on defense.

There are far worse scenarios than above.

Current Celtics team has offensive chops...that is a good team for Brown to be playing for.

Jayen has shown no fear even in some of the bigger moments of the season. Jaylen doesn't hang his head when he misses a play. He has a high motor at all times. He's a good passer. He's also a mad workhouse who will be a totally different looking player by the start of this coming season. He's out their working on that handle and constancy of that shot. Jaylen Brown won't be out worked by anyone.

I agree with your list of Browns attributes, but the one thing you didn't mention and I don't know if he has is the alpha persona. He plays with some fire so I know it is in him, but will he play with it and be able to be able to rally the troops. That is what separates good players from great players. IT has that persona, Pierce, KG, ect...
If he doesn't, all of the things you mentioned could be equal to a Jeff Green.
He has a longgggg way to go before all star Jaylen Brown. He is going to have some great highlights this season and probably will have a few twenty point nights, but let's not call this guy an all star yet.

Jeff green could have been in that list of things but I highly doubt he ever worked hard enough on his body or craft to become elite. That statement is pretty false imo.

Going back over the list for Jeff:

He's one of the twenty or so most physically gifted athletes in the league Maybe - Doubtful he was ever this

He's very strong Sure, I guess. Rarely showed it

He's a smart guy Seemed switched on - I'll give you that

He's coachable Not on defense

He's a high character guy who will probably be a leader Showed that he was a high character person - showed little to zero leadership characteristics

He has an excellent work ethic I highly doubt this. With Jeff's talent, if he had an excellent work ethic he would have ended up with a much better career.

He errs on the side of being too aggressive Nope

He finishes through contact Occasionally

He's already a plus defender Heck nope.

He isn't afraid of the moment One of the most constant criticisms of Jeff Green on here

He improved at a steady pace last year If anything has gotten worse over his relatively short NBA career.

Sell yourself, buddy.

He was effective as the fill-in starter at SG last year.  He has demonstrated great athleticism and size, solid work ethic, seems to understand the value of defense, and shot better than most expected as a rookie.

Jaylen is 20 years old.  You nor any one on this forum can predict what he will become.  Just enjoy the ride and appreciate another trip to the ECF + top young prospects.

I think you are highly overrating Browns small sample of work.
You say Green was not coachable on defense... Correct? Were you in the huddle? Didnt Brown get taken out quite a bit because of missing defensive assignments?
Green didn't show improvement his first few years?
Wasn't Green a crazy good athlete coming out of college???

I am not trying to bash Jaylen Brown on here. I like him and like the direction his game is going. But I would not be surprised if his career is similar to Jeff Green's. And I think a lot of rational Celtic fans can see similarities between the two. Their rookie season per 36 are almost identical.

If I could see a strong good footwork from Jaylen and good body control, the kid is priceless, so far coaches need to adress that, if he learns it, WATCH OUT!!!

Harrison Barnes is an excellent comparison. Barnes never lived up to his potential as the top high school player in the country 5 years ago and didn't really blossom until he was 24 and got more playing time. Brown is a better athlete and is a much harder worker than Barnes so he should in theory get better at an earlier age and have a better career. But Barnes is a legit borderline allstar player who is finding his rhythm.

Jeff Green had nowhere near the elite athleticism of Brown. But Green was longer, a pretty good athlete, and a very smart player who got a lot out of his ability. Interestingly, Harrison Barnes use to be called Jeff Green with a 3 point shot.

Yep. Especially if he's playing a fair amount of SG this season. He's going to be stronger than most SG's in the league. The ability to put him in the post against smaller defenders could cause a match-up nightmare for opposition given the rest of the team's versatility.

Brown is 20. This will be a big year for him to see if he's developed new skills and solidified some of the weaker parts of his game. So far he still has all star potential. He just has to do something with that potential.

I would sell you he is not an all star yet.    Look at his summer league performance, good some games and bad the next.   He was all over the place, Tatum was more consistent.

I think Jaylen was using the summer league as a bit of a laboratory. The first game he went hard every possession and tried to murder everyone. After that he was trying out new things a lot and experimenting with his game. In the regular season, he'll be playing more to his strengths and within his role so that'll be very different.
