A friend and I were talking about Philly in general, for no real reason, but then he said something that took me off guard.

He said he'd "take Embiid over any guy in the NBA to build around." He didn't back down no matter who I threw at him, whether that's LeBron, Kawhi, AD or KD.

Which got me thinking, which young (under 24, so no AD) big man would you choose?

All of these guys have weaknesses in their game, so it will be interesting seeing who you have.

No way you can take Embiid with his injury concerns. Towns is already an All NBA level player. Embiid has the highest ceiling, but is easily the riskiest. You take the sure thing in Towns. Could even argue for Jokic ,Kristaps, or Turner.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

I agree with your friend.
Really? With all the injury concerns?

Towns is already a monster, and has played 82 games in every season. Find it hard to go past that.

Frightening that we could field that in the future if we get very lucky.

Thon Maker might get better this year and be high enough to be in the conversation.

It's KAT for me, too, but only because of the injury concerns with Embiid. If there was some way to look into the future and know that he'd play 80% of his games for the next decade, it would be Embiid in a heartbeat. So I don't think your friend is crazy for thinking that but Towns has shown what he can actually do and it looks ilke he's going to be a monster.

That's true. As an Aussie I'm pretty excited to see what Thon can do, and if he can make the jump to be included in this conversation.

I was only thinking he's crazy due to him saying he'd choose Embiid over anyone, let alone just out of the young bigs.

But I agree, if (a very big one at that) Embiid can stay healthy and get a string of 70+ game seasons going he'll be a nightmare.

I love KAT, but would also love the chance to put Drummond on a team/environment like the C's.
