When he played for the Boston Celtics Brandon Bass was one of my favorite players. He did a number of things reasonably well, like rebounding and playing defense.

Where he shined the most was on offense. I don't know how many times he would hit shots while the rest of the team was ice cold. If there was a stat in that category he probably would have had the highest rating. He has a super-reliable shot.

If he were available at the veteran minimum I would much prefer him over Abdel Nader, Kadeem Alan or Shane Larkin because of his shooting ability and height. I realize he's 32 years old and has questionable hands.

Great article in the Boston Globe a couple days ago about how he's improved both defensively and offensively....somewhat interesting of note is that he's extended his shooting range. I wonder if Danny would consider bringing him back and using him in a similar role that Brad used Green last  year?

Its not happening. We have Morris who is bass but with more weapons and tough. Baynes. We also have semi and yabu both a decade younger, faster, and better shooters. And I haven't got to theis, zizic, and nader

What if Baynes or Morris got hurt?

Watched two Summer League didn't think Semi shoots nearly as well as Bass.

Nope.   He can go chase his billion dollar dreams.

What is the obsession with tweeners on this board?   Guys also like incomplete players.   ie Sully could rebound but not shoot, Bass could shoot but not board.

We already have 16 guaranteed contracts. We don't have the roster space.

Got a feeling Bass will last well into the season. If we're that depleted by injury, we can revisit it then.

I'd rather develop some young guys, he's certainly not the finishing touch on a championship team.

Generally low standards by many fans. Not sure why, but its nearly August and boredom setting in?

Bring back ___________(fill in the blank) threads  have been a Celticsblog tradition dating back to the early 2000s.

Really can't wait for the "Bring back Kelly Olynyk" threads to start.

Brandon Bass is younger than Lebron James.

This did actually change my mind a little bit on him, they do a good job making it seem like his decline in production was a Doc problem and not a Bass problem (based on stats). If there was some issue with Morris or we just needed more shooting we could do worse than taking a flier on him at the minimum. I do hope he doesn't end up on Cleveland...

I just remember jumping for joy when we actually did bring back Eric Williams in '99 and Antoine in '05 (CB was all over this one!)

But, yeah, not only is it not very common to bring back former players to your favorite team, it also usually doesn't end as well as one may hope.

Sometimes it does...Cleveland sure is glad LeBron came back.
