So with Rose joining the Cavs, the Cavs now have 2 former MVP's with 5 MVP seasons between them.  The Warriors also have 2 former MVP's with 3 MVP seasons between them.  The only other former MVP's in the league, with a season each, are Westbrook and Nowitzki.  Kobe in the 07/08 season was the most recent MVP from a player no longer in the league.  Duncan and Garnett also retired fairly recently and Shaq, Nash, and Iverson a bit before them.

I just found that to be an interesting stat, though there was probably a fairly similar one in the 80's with Bird and Walton on the Celtics: Magic, McAdoo and Kareem on the Lakers (McAdoo retired before Magic won his first): and Erving and Malone on the Sixers (the Sixers also had those two and Barkley at one point though Charles wouldn't win his MVP for quite some time after that similar to the Lakers with Magic).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Rose's MVP is about as relevant as Dirk's at this point. The Warriors are a truly dominant team right now and one of the best in league history. The Cavs are pretty run of the mill, particularly after the upcoming Irving trade.

historically, sure, just like Walton and McAdoo were 6th men on their teams and weren't even top 3 players on their teams in the 80's (while someone like Magic wasn't yet a MVP even though he was the best player on those early 80's Lakers teams)
