I'll take IT4 every day and twice on Sundays.

Irving has talent but not the heart or clutch factor.

IT4 is the King in the 4th.  Has come up big in all situations, regular season and postseason.

Irvining on the other hand is too much of a look-at-me player.

Can't be satisfied being #2.

Either he turns into a big success as the #1 guy, wherever he moves next, or he finds out that he's only Robin without a Batman to bring home the bacon.

I'm a fan of Irving's individual game.  He is incredible with the ball and as a finisher and these guys are pretty close but I very comfortably take IT. The fact that the Cavs suffered when Irving was the main guy on the floor last year is a serious indictment against him at this point in his career.
While Isaiah isn't Larry Bird in that regard, he's actually quite a good passer and does not stop ball movement in any way. His absurd clutch gene and heart also make it an easy decision for me.

Rationally, Kyrie has more value around the league. He's younger and signed for longer.

I trust IT to fit into our offense more, though.

I can see the knock on Irving for the drop off when Lebron sat, but so much of that falls on the incompetent coaching of Lue as far as I'm concerned.  He just seems out of his league. It's not like they lack talent without Lebron. Both Irving and Love should have been more successful. Not sure what happened there other than not having much of a game plan.

Even though Kyrie has proven it by hitting the big title sealing shot, I'd still take Isaiah to shoot every day of the week.

I agree that Kyrie has shown out at the highest stage.

That said, why not talk about Washington?

Dropping 53 points in a crucial game in the ECSF to hold home court 2 weeks removed from a death in the family and on the same day of a 5+ hour dental surgery.

That is a big Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing stage. You cant just rule it out for no reason.

I mean I cant write, "Kyrie has never dominated at the highest stage... and no, don't talk about Golden State". Thatd be ridiculous.

I think IT will be the most suitable player for the Celtics next season. there are solid arguments for both players via what they have achieved and their skills. Even if Irving can be argued as a superior player I would still rather go with IT for the green. I know he will be solid and plays well in the scheme. I am not sure what is going on with KI.

This topic means nothing without a poll.

For me, Irving and it's not remotely close. He would kill the league with a team offensively oriented for him, as Thomas has had (for those only relying on stats and forgetting the defensive liability due to lack of size).

Those of us clamoring for Kyrie in BOS should consider CHEMISTRY.

Kyrie - with part of this CLE thing being HIS fault - has a cloud over him right now.

After that Kendrick Perkins trade way back in 2011 this team got a first hand view of what a Chemistry-killing trade can do to a team.

Some would argue - "Well we weren't going to beat MIA anyway."

Some would argue - "Well, we wouldn't have been able to pay Perk anyways."

I hated to see Kendrick Perkins go but that trade worked out for OKC in that they matched up better with LA (and then Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum).

We got Jeff Green. I loved him as a player but we lost toughness and a lot of chemistry in that trade.

The bottom line is that I'd be hesitant to bring in a player that - while immensely talented - has a cloud over him right now for wanting to leave a great team and "Move out on his own."

The Boston Celtics - throughout NBA History - have thrived on CHEMISTRY just as much as talent. Players buying in...players doing their roles....teamwork....no "agendas".

Kyrie has an agenda.

While I love his game and think he's a good kid we need to stay away from him and let him go on to wherever CLE trades him to.

Isaiah Thomas is better - for BOSTON.

Why do you think every GM & scout on earth take Irving over IT4 ?

Better question, why do you think every GM and scout in earth would take Irving over IT? There's literally no evidence to support that
I'm bitter.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
The eye test tells me Kyrie.

IT is great, but I'm not sure he reaches this level without Brad Stevens.

I think Kyrie could be even deadlier playing for Stevens.
