The celtics in a sign and trade could afford to sign mirotic for upto four years and with a starting salary of around $11.8 million if they sent crowder the other way. Bulls may do it as they are deeper at the four than the three, and may see crowder as better value than what they have to pay mirtotic. I think mirotic is a better fit on the current roster celtics and has the better upside than crowder, however the $4-5 million extra he'll might command extra next year would make him way more expensive for ownership.

Jymichael green could be a similar target with a sign and trade for crowder.

Btw i like crowder but see these two as better fits with the current roster

@goCeltics

The question is then why you think Mirotic is a better fit than Crowder. On the face of it, I find it hard to believe. But I'm open to persuasion.

Wouldn't do it. Never liked Mirotic. Too much of a liability on the defensive side of the ball.

My idea would be Crowder for Ntilikina in a 3-way with the Cavs and the Knicks

Jordan Schultz‏@Schultz_Report
Source: #Knicks and #Cavs in serious talks centered around Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving+possible 3rd team (maybe #Suns).

Kyrie + Shumpert + filler to the Knicks
Melo + Crowder + O'Quinn to the Cavs
Ntilikina to the Celtics

(or something along those lines)

Don't see the Cavs doing it but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

Not nearly enough value for Crowder considering his contract and production.  Plus we don't need another PG

Green can hit the outside shot like Mirotic but he is a better defender.

Balances out the top 10 players a little:

IT.  Rozier
Smart. Brown
Hayward. Tatum
Green. Morris
Horford. Baynes

Crowder is worth more than that bc of his contract for another 3 years, 3point shooting at almost40%, and solid 2-way player. He has a top5 contract in the entire NBA. Since we have Tatum, Brown, Morris, Gordon Hayward, and even Semi we are pretty set at his position...I think maybe a good option would be to revisit Philly and get them to lift some of the protections, possibly add another pick,  and then throw in Okafor for us to take a flier on. I will admit that I have a bad feeling about the protections and could see us getting screwed in 2019 and ending up with a late lottery pick or something above 16.....

The cap went down from what everyone expected it to be. Had it not I believe the trade we did with the Sixers would have been bigger...and we would have got more assets. But we needed room for Hayward and adding another players salary would have been very difficult. But if the cap was a few million higher I think we could have waitied Philly out a bit more and gotten 1 more additional pick plus a flier on Okafor. The pick could have been, in addition to the pick we already acquired, the sixers 2021 1st or something like that.

Typical, Ntilikina was the 8th pick in the draft. That's mid-lottery. How is that not fair value for Crowder?

What would we have had to give up a month ago to get such a high draft pick? A lot I would assume.

I would rather have Crowder than Ntilikina.   Why help either team, the Cavs will be weaker without Melo and Crowder.   We want to beat the Cavs, this move makes more sense if your a CAVS fan...

I don't think it makes any sense for the Cavs. They'd be all SF/PFs with someone like Rose starting at PG. Why add Crowder to come off the bench instead of a starting PG?
I'm bitter.

Don't really see how Mirotic makes the team better. Bad defender and not much versatility.

As for the rookie French guard, the Cs don't need even more rookies on the team. They currently have 6.

crowder on one of the best contracts in the nba
mirotic, horrible season, in and out of the team

Not just bad for the C's, but don't help the Bulls by taking Mirotic off their hands.

I like the idea of trading Crowder for a different type player but not this one.   I wouldn't mind a swap for a more me lengthy shot blocking athletic big.   A Noel type.   Not sure the celts value that type though.

Can't stand anything about Mirotic. I don't want him for free.
