Guerschon Yabusele

Height w/ Shoes: 6'8.5"
Wingspan: 7'1"
Standing Reach: 8'9"

Draymond Green

Height w/ Shoes: 6'7.5"
Wingspan: 7'1.25"
Standing Reach: 8'10"

Ever since Draymond Green emerged as a force for the GSW folks have been looking for the 'next Draymond Green'. Many have tried to make the comparison with Ojele, but Semi simply doesn't have the same length and height to be able to be a small ball 5 (at least as effectively as Green does).

Howevert this comparison practically begs to be made. Yabusele has nearly identical measurements to Green, owns the size advantage between the two and may actually still possess the better agility/speed despite the difference in mass.

Now what makes Green special is his motor and attitude. That's what Yabusele will have to replicate in order to be the first player to live up to the Draymond Green comparison. I've certainly seen it in flashes from the dancing bear, but Green brings it night in/night out.

Check out these two quotes from NBA Draft Net in 2016:  "Many in France believe he can become a Draymond Green type of versatile forward in the future ...""… His favorite player is Draymond Green…"

Physically very similar.

Style wise very different.  Draymond was a great defensive player coming out of Michigan State because you don't get minutes under Tom Izzo unless you play team defense.

Unfortunately nothing Yabs has done since being drafted has done anything for his defense... The Red Claws and the Shang Hai Dragons weren't about to bench an NBA first round pick because he wasn't switching well or closing out.

TP for the post and the hope for the future that it suggests.

Draymond Green had a few things going for him that Yabusele doesn't.

1. Draymonds draft position put a big chip on his shoulder.

2. Draymond played  for one of the best programs in maybe the best coach in college basketball.

3. Maturity..(in terms of his game)....Draymond was a senior

Love the  physical comparison, and I think our kid might be superior physically. Let's just hope that he is at least half as tough and has at least half the burn.  Then will really have something.

4.   Green oozes mental toughness and is an instigator of excellent quality.   We have seen none of that from Yabu.

5.   Green is an elite defender, Yabu is a project at this point.  Time will tell...

I like the comparison in terms of physical profile, except Yab looks like he is more heavily built.

Playing style wise they're quite different, as Draymond is a very solid playmaking defensive specialist, with limited offensive game himself.

I think Yabusele will make it as a solid NBA player, especially because he is a big boy who can stroke it and grab boards. Maybe we have the next Kevin Love ;)

Yep. The problem with the OP's comparison (and most NBA comps from fans) is that what makes Draymond Green Draymond Green is not his physical attributes, it's his drive, his intensity, and his intellect. Looking for the "next Draymond Green" should not mean looking for someone who looks similar, but someone who plays the game in a similar way.

the scouting reports on yabusele were similar.

very good offensive potential, both shooting and driving to basket. Long arms for rebounds. Not good on defense, but has ability to become good on defense.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'd like to see both the weight and BF% comparisons, too, because I'm betting Yab bests him there, too.

But as others have said, that all means nothing without Green's motor and elite defensive prowess.

I do not see Green in Yabu at all....he has not displayed Green'screen motor, passion, or leadership.

Do you gave a source for those measurements because everywhere I look, it see measurement that say Yabusele is only 6'7-6'8 with a 7'0 wingspan.
Warning: I am a Marucs Smart homer

He is the vocal leader of that team.....the way the refs call him is their problem.

This is from Draftexpress I remember it was 7 1.5"

Measured on the NBA workout circuit in recent weeks at 6'8 in shoes with a near-7'2 wingspan and tipping the scales around 270 pounds, it isn't difficult to see what makes him an interesting prospect on first glance. Yabusele has a massive frame that appears to be able to gain and lose weight quickly, and though he is slightly undersized for a power forward, he compensates with his wingspan and nice explosiveness. What makes Yabusele unique, aside from his physical tools, is that he appears very comfortable playing facing the basket offensively and possesses terrific scoring instincts.

Yeah how dare the refs blow the whistle on a dirty player ::)
