So sad... One of the biggest inspiration to most musicians to this day, and its sad knowing someone as gifted as him had mentally ill issues that just couldn't be addressed.

Quote
Chester Bennington's suicide was a shock to bandmates, because the group had plans for a photo shoot in Hollywood just hours after the Linkin Park singer was found hanging at his home.
Multiple sources tell us ... Chester hanged himself in his bedroom. His body was discovered shortly before 9 AM PT Thursday by a housekeeper.
We're told Chester arrived back in L.A. Wednesday from Arizona, where he and his wife were spending time. She stayed in AZ, but his return suggests the singer took his life Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
Our sources say one of his bandmates showed up at Chester's Palos Verdes Estates home shortly after police arrived. He said he was driving Chester to the photo shoot and was "absolutely shocked."
The band also has plans to tour in 1 week, which made the suicide all the more shocking.
TMZ broke the story of Chester's suicide, and that he was profoundly affected by the suicide by hanging of his close friend, Chris Cornell. By the way, today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Is it possible he didn't have mental issues? I feel like sometimes these celebs lose fame and it makes them become alcoholic and what not.

It's been stated many times over the past several years Chester has had issues, and suffered from depression, and once voiced long time ago, about his frustrations with how the music industry pressured artists, and made it difficult to lead a substantially sound life.

It doesn't really matter what ailments, he suffered... It was sad to see such talented artist pass away at such a young age.

Yep, suffered sexual abuse at the age of 7. He said for years even during on tour that he felt guilty, and still believed it was his fault. Remorse or guilt most abused people feel over time.

You could make the argument that getting to the point of commiting suicide is in itself a mental issue.

"Morning After" Lyrics

Chester Bennington versus Julien-K

Caught up against the wall again
Tied my chain to the ball again
It never seems to amaze my mind
So I just sleep sleep sleep
Sleep, sleep, sleep, please don't
Wake me 'til the morning after
Wake me 'til the morning after

Cut and bruised by the fall again
Lick my wounds like a dog again
Is that a light at the end of the tunnel
That I see I see, please let it be but don't
Wake me 'til the morning after
Wake me 'til the morning after

Wake me 'til the morning after
I'm so tired, there has got to be an end
To the pain I feel
When I'm awake and alive alive alive
Alive and I'm dreaming

Caught up against the wall again
Tied my chain to the ball again
It never seems to amaze my mind
So I just sleep sleep sleep
Sleep, sleep, sleep, please don't
Wake me 'til the morning after
Wake me 'til the morning after

Wake me 'til the morning after
I'm so tired there has got to be an end
To the pain I feel
When I'm awake and alive alive alive
Alive and I'm dreaming

The same day as Chris Cornell's birthday, who's a close friend of Chester.

It's sad, but it's also creepy.

[dang], that's sad. RIP! I loved LP during the 90s (best decade in music IMO)! I was talking to my 16yo sister a couple months ago and was surprised when I found out she was a fan, good music lasts! I know they still make music but the 90s was when it was lit! It's as if these ICONS can't just go out like a normal old person, we always lose them when they are young(ish)!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

it's a shame.  a loss that didn't need to happen.

didn't care for Linkin Park's music but I respected that they were putting out something different than other bands.

I don't think Cornell would appreciate the tribute.

Very sad news indeed. Was a big fan of his unique voice. Will probably be listening to a lot of old LP this weekend.

Prodigy died from sickle cell anemia though I believe, right?  Either way, very sad events.  Seems there are more and more entertainers committing suicide over the years.
