Apparently after two meetings with the Bucks, Rose is leaning towards signing a vet min deal with the Cavs.  He is clearly an upgrade over D-Will but will he help them all that much.  Last year saw him score over 18 points per game and have his best shooting % since his glory days.  Should we taken a stab at him, if we was willing to accept the min?

The Cavs have an old bench that cannot defend and while Rose is not old, his ability to defend has been a criticism of his. Are we the better team as of today?

This has been discussed in a few other threads, but basically this is the quintessential Lebron James GM move. He is a big name, has been an all-star in the past, but is no longer what he was and addresses zero of their weaknesses. Their issues are all on defense and Irving is already one of the weakest defenders in the NBA. They need a great defensive player at the guard position to slow down all the elite guards int he NBA (Harden, Curry, Westbrook, IT, Wall, Lowry). This doesn't do that.

It's safe to say that LeBron James is dumb.  Listening to him talk is painful, but his front office decisions are even worse.

so the comparison to Michael Jordan with LeBron is pretty close, both players are considered best players of their generation

both are equally really bad at being GMs

I would rather him go to the Cavs than the Lakers.

Is Lebron officially acting GM until the role is filled?

That's a good point.  You'd have to think if he is used properly, there is some good value there.  That most likely won't happen in Cleveland, but I guess he wants to lose in the ECF rather than fight for a playoff spot in the west.  Considering the other choices were Bucks and LA

Do the Cavs change their lineup by benching JR Smith, and having Kyrie Irving and Rose in the backcourt in their starting line up? If that's the case, then the Cavs have improved considerably, since the less Smith plays the better off they are.

Do people really not understand the defensive side of basketball? With a challenge from the Lakers, that would be the worst defensive backcourt in the league. Smith isn't a world beater on defense but he is significantly better than Rose and also 3-4 inches taller. So you have Rose guard Klay Thompson and Irving guard Curry?

Yeah I agree with clay on this one.  Rose should not start.  I disagee with clay though in that I like Rose as a back-up PG for the Cavs (as well as occasionally playing with Irving).  I think Rose is a pretty big upgrade on Deron Williams, Jose Calderon, and Kay Felder, the current/potential back-up PG's in Cleveland.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I don't disagree with you that he is probably better than those guys overall (which is pretty faint praise). What I think the bigger issue is that they have a finite amount of roster spaces and they do have some serious needs in bringing in a few defensive specialists. As we discussed bringing back Delly, or having been able to horn in on the Beverly trade or even bringing in old friend Tony Allen all would have filled a much bigger need than adding another offensive player. Between Love, Smith, Lebron, Irving plus the shooting of Korver the offense is completely covered. Heck even Jeff Green can score a little. However, who is going to put up defensive resistence against guards and wings?

Exactly. Whoever is in charge of making the roster is dumb. They are hoping to score at each possession to win? They have 2 all-stars bad at defense. And they hire backups with flaw on defense.
I'm glad because that means we have a very good chance to beat them next season.

Curry hit a really tough shot there, and it was ok defense. Barely beat the buzzer. I am not sure what your point is here. That Rose can't play the 2? That Brown can't either?
