Ball, Smith Jr, swanigan, Jackson, and Jason collins. Ball also won Summer league MVP

Honestly, I hope it doesn't. A focused player should know Summer League accolades are meaningless and how he's developing as a player is the only thing that's important.

Didn't he miss quite a few games? If so then fair enough

He played three games, and was something like 15th in points per game in Vegas This isn't really a snub.

I hate Lonzo Ball and hope he crumbles in L.A. - already so sick of the hype machine. MVP? Please!

Hey, at least Tatum got the last slot on the 2nd team.

It's just summer league. Also, Tatum only played 3 games.

The magic of "Magic"

When you have an NBA legend hyping a player, for a team in a City many players want to play for, and a loudmouth nitwit father continually being interviewed on the sidelines, you have a formula for surefire player notoriety.

Get use to it, Ball will be the face of this years draft class. Especially with his pass first skill set, in an NBA that is sourly missing this trait.

Visit the Laker blogs, they think they have Magic Johnson ll.

From what I read, it's only based on Los Vegas and he missed the last few games. Second team is actually pretty good considering.

Nothing to get worked about

Celts beat the blazers and lakers in sl games

Confident Celts would have won it all if tatum, brown , zizic played

But looks like celts wanted to give other players some exposure

I have no idea who voted for this. But I think all star teams are BS anyways. Except for the ones where the  players themselves are the voters. I doubt this was the case here. Tatum impressed me more than Ball or Jackson. A big factor was the location--out west--near Phoenix and LA.

Judging from the hostility of the crowds, Tatum is lucky he got 2nd team.

I guess the three games the Celtics played in Utah don't count.
Tatum sat after injury leaving the glory of beating guys you will never hear of again beat other guys who you will never hear of again.

Tatum played really well. He did not take many threes, but showed a tremendous handle, timing and body control.

I think coming off the bench and playing on a contender is going to make him better...much better than these superstar cupcakes who have been number ones since they were 11 years old.

Adversity can make a player better. You fight for what you get...it's a good thing. Ask IT.

Anyway, he will come off the bench and learn defense and professional play from a top coach on a top playoff team...also, I think he is a good kid and is coachable.

I think SL here means the aggregate of Las Vegas, Utah, and Florida. Don't care either way, though. The Lakers can hang a banner for Lonzo if their little heart desires.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

This is so great.  I really like Ball winning MVP in a league that doesn't matter and no one will care about 2 months from now.  I want the Ball promo machine to be in high gear until the games count for something.  Nothing against kid, just his dad.

The Ball coverage on ESPN has been sickening. In the SL championship game last night the announcers spent about 50% of the time talking about him.

I'm guessing they have orders from above.

It is turning into Tim Tebow 2.0.

And btw when Magic said he "knew" the Lakers would keep their pick I believe him. The league has anointed this kid and wanted him in LA.

Anyone else watch the game last night? The Lakers were literally 17/22 shooting 3's at one point in the 4th.

They shot 75% from 3 over a two-game stretch in which Ball was out.

IMO they played better with him gone.
