They never announce the contract figures when the sum is embarrassing. He never did get that big contract, in fact the most he's made is 14 mil/year last year with the Bulls. It's kind of amazing how his career has gone when you think about where he was 5-6 years ago.

Went from the riding the coattails of the Big 3 to being a back for Jrue Holiday. Yikes. Talk about a downward spiral. Thankfully Ainge got rid of this bum just in time.

Rondo and Holiday will start together in the backcourt.

Rondo obviously rode the coattails of the Big 3 in 2008 - no question, and maybe in 2009 as well. But the next four seasons (2010-13), he was at least the third best player on the team, and oftentimes the best player on the team. We don't come that close to beating the Heat in 2012 without Rondo's dominance - he was definitely our best player, and arguably the best player on the floor in that series, including LeBron. LeBron obviously had a monster Game 6, but Rondo was a flat out stud for that entire series.

It's fair to criticize him, but I don't think it's fair to criticize him without acknowledging his greatness as well.

Not sure how that would work. They gave Holiday a big deal. I think Rondo is injury insurance for Holiday. Then again, NO plays with 2 centers. Wouldn't shock me to see them play with 2 PGs as well. Don't really understand the direction of that franchise.

That clearly seems to be the plan as it's been stated they think Jrue played best with the Twin Towers Redux when he was off the ball.

Greatness of Rondo? Rondo had great performances. Sure, I'll give him that. Problem was it was not sustained nor was it consistent. Their was also no greatness in his general attitude. His failure to develop as a player ultimately doomed the core as they could not carry the load like they could previously.

KG's knee doomed that core. Ainge's persistent dangling of Ray Allen in trade talks and Ray getting sick of it doomed that core. The fact that we overstayed a 3 year window by 2 more years doomed that core.

Rondo's development - or in your opinion, lack thereof - was never the focus of the big 3 era. It was an off shoot. Laying the blame at his feet is wholly unfair and shortsighted.

Funny enough, if we close out game 7 and win in 2010, Rondo likely wins Finals MVP. Yet, somehow his lack of development doomed that core? Please.

I don't think it's clear. Rondo is getting paid back up money. The last time jrue played the 2 he didn't like it and he was bad

Rondo's previous rep seems to really be hurting his stock around the league. Combine that with his ball dominance and the interested parties are limited.

People who dislike Rondo as a person will continue to disparage him but objectively it's pretty clear that he's still a starting level pg in this league. His performance against us in the playoffs should have been proof of his worth.

It should act as a warning for other guys in the league though, if you get yourself in a bad situation, act professionally or it can seriously damage the rest of your career.

The Pelicans backcourt is paper thin, which ever way it's cut Rondo will see big minutes (ie he's probably starting). It doesn't really matter as much if Holiday is bad at the two, they just need their best talent on the floor first because next up is Etwaun Moore and a rookie.

Who do you think will star in the backcourt? I'd say Rondo/Jrue is a lot more likely than Jrue/E'twaun Moore or Jrue/Jordan Crawford

Also, are the Pelicans stealing all of our cast off guards?
I'm bitter.

Holiday played alot of 2 last year and he is good without the ball. Rondo can throw the lob withe best of them. AD and Cousins will get some easy baskets for sure. If Rondo is motivated he should have no problem leading the league in Assists. Should be fun to watch.
