Players to Watch

Jayson Tatum - The Celtics first round pick, #3 overall, will continue to have the spotlight on him.  He finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds in his first game and 23 points with 10 rebounds in his second game.  What will he do in his final game in Utah?
Abdel Nader - Nader, the 58th pick in last year's draft played last season with the Red Claws and was named D-League Rookie of the Year.  He had 13 points and 7 rebounds in his first game and 14 points with 1 rebound in his second game.  He seems to be making a case for a roster spot.
Jaylen Brown - Jaylen was a man among boys in his first game against the Sixers with 29 points and 13 rebounds.  Against the Spurs, Brown struggled with just 6 points on 2-6 shooting and 0-4 from beyond the arc.  I expect Jaylen to bounce back and have a big game in this one.
Ante Zizic - The Celtics drafted Zizic 23rd in 2016.  He impressed this past season playing for David Blatt with Darüşşafaka Doğuş.  Blatt described him as having a nose for the ball and being unafraid of anything.   He finished his first game with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block and  followed that with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block in his second game.  He needs to break his habit of bringing rebounds down and allowing them to be stripped and for the second straight game, he appeared to be a step slow.  Will these things improve with more playing time?

Players to Watch

Dante Exum - Exum was the 5th pick in the 2014 draft.  He is the only lottery pick from 2014 or 2015 who is participating in either Utah or Los Vegas Summer Leagues.  His career was slowed when he missed all of 2015-16 with an ACL tear.  He is working to get his rhythm back and to secure a place in the rotation this season. Exum  finished his first game with 18 points 6 rebounds and 5 assists and added 26 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists in his second game.
Donovan Mitchell.  Mitchell was the 13th pick in the 2017 draft after the Jazz traded Trey Lyles and the 24th pick to get him.  He finished his first game with 23 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists and added 15 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists in his second game.
Joel Bolomboy - Bolomboy was the 52nd pick in the 2016 draft.  He averaged just 4.4 minutes per game in his first season with the Jazz.
Tony Bradley - The Jazz sent the 30th and 42nd picks to the Lakers for the 28th pick in order to pick Bradley in the 2017 draft.

Game Notes
This game between the Jazz and the Celtics takes on new meaning with the decision of Gordon Hayward to leave the Jazz and go to the Celtics.  Jazz fans at the game will likely boo the Celtics and so the players need to concentrate and keep their poise in the face of a hostile crowd.

The Jazz has won both of their games so far, beating the Spurs on opening night and then winning a close game against the Sixers on Wednesday night.  The Celtics started off with a win over the Sixers but then lost to the Spurs in a game where the Spurs simply outplayed them.  The Celtics shot just 30% from the field and 21.9% from beyond the arc.

Every player on the Celtics team got playing time against the Spurs except Demetrius Jackson.  With the Celtics looking for every bit of cap space they can squeeze out, he is likely going to be waived or traded and so it's possible they don't want to risk an injury in Summer League.  We may see him play in this game, or he may be held out once again.

Keys to the Game
Chemistry - The Celtics need to continue to build chemistry and not turn the ball over.  They had 18 turnovers compared to 8 for the Spurs in their loss.  They need to work at working together better.
Defense - Playing tough defense is always a key to winning games.  The Celtics will need to slow down Exum and Mitchell who have been shooting the ball very well.
Poise - The Celtics seemed to lose their poise at times, turning the ball over,  missing shots, failing to win 50-50 balls, etc.  They need to play with  more poise and not allow themselves to get flustered.
7-11 - The Celtics need their two stars to play well.  Tatum has played very well in both games and shows maturity beyond his years.  Brown struggled in the Celtics loss to the Spurs and the Celtics need him to bounce back to win this one against a tough Jazz team.

TP FLCeltsFan!!! (And TP to @hwangjini_1 for beating me by 15 darn seconds)

Hopefully Brown and Zizic have better games, I just think they were a little off but it happens (some rust), but I'm LOVING what I'm seeing out of Tatum so far. Really hoping he can keep it up!

Can Hayward come watch this game live and see all the rookies and the future Pierce 2.0 at work?  8)

And something tells me this will be a lot more hostile, with a game vs Utah, AT Utah  :P
