Probably.  Slightly better defense and rebounding, slightly worse shooting.  His job is to play defense, rebound, and hit open 3-pointers as the 5th option on offense.

To be clear, I don't think he gets near the amount of minutes Jerebko got last year, but I don't think Jerebko was getting that amount of minutes if he stayed.  I do think he'll get more minutes than Yabusele, Ojeleye, and Nader.  In other words, he's a 12th man.

I think(and this is just a wild guess) this guy will be the same as Jordan mickey.

i see a Chris Birdman Anderson type of role. someone to play solid defense, dish out hard fouls, gets dunked on a lot etc.

Birdman couldn't shoot the 3 like Theis can.

He has to be better than Mickey.  He's 25 and has pro experience.

I'd like to think he will be better than Jerebko, but I can't say.  Unfortunately, most of the youtube clips of him are just a bunch of dunks off lob passes.

I can't imagine this guy being a 10-11th man in our rotation, as Jerebko was.

I can't imagine this guy being a 10-11th man in our rotation, as Jerebko was.

Jerebko was closer to 9th-10th than he was 11th.  He played all of 31 minutes less than Rozier, who was 9th in minutes, and more than double Gerald Green's minutes, who was 11th.

I think Theis will be a 12th man type (Zeller minutes or fewer), but I'm not sure that Jerebko would have any larger of a role this year than Theis.  We have so many more options at the stretch 4 this year that have more versatility to their game than Jerebko.  So when I say Theis will have Jerebko's role, I mean what JJ would have had this year had he returned, and not what his role was last year.

I see Brad experimenting with multiple guys. End of day, most productive guy will get the most minutes.

I agree.  I just think that Theis will be around the 12th most productive guy.  :)

Anyone suggesting Theis takes Jonas' role keep in mind it seems we will be A LOT deeper this year. If Jonas was 10-11 man off bench last year, this year 10-11 is now what.. Rozier/Tatum/Theis with Semi/Zizic/Yabu behind.

So they have the German Larry Bird and the Swedish Larry Bird.

German Larry Bird?  More like the German Detlef Schrempt.

I don't care what anyone says, that was funny.

Hah! Well played, sir.

again, you would benefit from actually watching his highlights before fingers to keyboard. theis is tough under the basket and being dunked on is not going to be his signature role. ask zizic about that.  ;D

oh, and he shot 41% from 3 point land in europe last year.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
