With Griffin and George both now off the market, two of our top routes to fill the 5th starter spot are now shot. So who will we realistically target to man the 4 spot in the starting lineup?

Some possible names:

Melo

Porzingis (reports are that he's still potentially available, though his cost would still be high)

Favors

Gibson (though I'm not sure if he's a lock to stay in OKC now after the George trade)

What do you guys think? I seriously have no idea at this point, but we have to have something. I'm not fond of going small with IT, Brown, Crowder, Hayward, and Horford. That's one thing to do with George; it's a completely different thing to do with Crowder.

If Porzingis is still on the table I'd give up the farm.

Honestly...I think the only move Boston makes is resigning KO and then some very small meaningless deals to fill out the roster. I do not see them getting Hayward and after him...there is nobody worth bringing in.

The summer will be like last summer where all said wait until next summer.

The plan is now going to shift to keeping all the picks and developing the young ones, resigning IT and Bradley

Add Yabu and Zizic also

Davis is the big fish. That's the one you cash all the chips in for.

I never understood how we could afford 4 stars.  Getting both Hayward and George was wishful thinking that never made sense.

Honestly you probably have to play crowder and GH a lot at the 4 and pray that one or more of Yabu Zizic and Ojele can hold down a real role.

Patrick Patterson?
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

What about a sign-and-trade for Milsap? Atlanta clearly isn't keeping him, so they'd be willing to do a sign-and-trade with us, as well as Milsap wanting to come here I would guess.

I guess it would depend on how much he was demanding, but I do like the look of a IT, Brown, Hayward, Milsap, and Horford starting lineup with Rozier, Smart, Tatum, Zizic, and others backing them up.

Still haven't heard any realistic and likable deals outside of something like Melo, which I'm not sure actually is realistic with as large as his salary is.

We're really going to be starting Kelly freaking Olynyk at the 4 next year, aren't we?

Start KO because he is going to be Boston's big FA signing

Taj Gibson for the MLE?

This.

Or bring Horford at PF and sign a Center. Andrew Bogut for the room exception or some of the MLE. Heck, why not the full MLE for two years, with the last year non-guaranteed?

At the very least, he can mentor Ante Zizic, and that's excellent value.
