I bet George would not commit to extending.

I also would not be surprised if Celtics are getting special treatment somewhat.  If you have more they want more.  The rumored asking price was too high and if they really asked that and turned around and took this well you have to not do business with that team.

I know people will freak about this but if we still go for Hayward and roll out with him as an addition and minor changes things are still great.  Deep breath.

Yep Danny himself confirmed teams are asking for more.

It's frustrating seeing stars get traded for little when we could use them.

As you say Celtics are still a good team, sign Hayward and a couple legit big men and we'll be in a great space

I know no one wants to hear it right now, but LA won't be better.  We could have two top 5 picks next year and everyone will laugh about this.

PG was traded for essentially a bag of peanuts. That Ainge - nor anyone else - beat the sad sack deal that Indy got for PG shows how certain everyone was that he's going to LA.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Jesus what are we waiting for!
Surely the Pacers could have waited to see if wed landed Hayward then seen what wed offer?

So Pacers should've waited for us? Blake Griffin should've waited to see if we needed a fallback option?

Dude, no one's waiting for us. And they shouldn't.

So.... George and Westbrook are definitely running off to LA next summer aren't they?

So freaking frustrating.

George went cheap. Butler went cheap. But hey, we have "assets".

If all the rumors are true of their asking price (2 firsts including the Nets pick and 2 starters) are you supposed to just be swindled?
Well that obviously wasn't the asking price. He just went for Oladipo and Sabonis.

lol.... for them. Those are players for their team.  For us it was that.  We don't have those players and they asked more because we have better things.  All the reports say that was the asking price.

Danny's gonna die on a hill with his assets.

I'm not sure this is on Danny. Even if we didn't have to part with the LA/Kings pick, we would have had a better offer. It makes sense to wait on Hayward to try and get PG and continue the talks.

I think this is on Indiana. If they wanted to settle for such a very cheap return, there's nothing we can do.

You don't think there was any middle ground that could have been explored?

Why are you assuming there wasn't?  Danny tries to make all kinds of trades I am sure he tried everything.  They were in serious talks, we already know that.  Every bit of reporting I saw said the Pacers would not budge.

If they want 2 of Smart, Avery, Crowder, Brown and the Nets pick and Lakers pick well good riddance.  They can take their crap offer to prove their point.

They obviously would budge because look at what they just took for George.

Also, Danny was also one who wouldn't budge. I understand not losing both of the picks next year, but he wouldn't even offer the LA pick. That's a complete failure of overvaluing one's assets to me. Same old story with Danny.

To be fair, Butler was not all that cheap. Decent return for the Bulls, IMO.

But PG going for Dipo and Sabonis?? THATS CHEAP! I have a hard time imagining Pacers would choose that package over Bradley+Crowder and MEM and LAC 1st rounders.

Which means that PG likely told Ainge that, come hell or high water, he was going to LA.

Paul George for Oladipo and Sabonis, straight up. No picks included. Absolutely no downside to this trade for OKC at all.

Don't make it? Westbrook probably doesn't sign the extension and you're likely going to lose him and have to start all over anyway, while also having long-term money committed to Oladipo.

Make it? Get out of Oladipo's contract, give Westbrook incentive to re-sign, and lessen his work load for next season.

All I have seen said more than 1.  That's too high of a price for him and he shouldn't have paid it without an extension.

Personally I also think, reading between the lines, this means a lot of the Lakers talk is really legit with him.  You hear it with other players but I wonder if this isn't really he is serious about just leaving to LA.  No extensions even in mind.

Does anybody think maybe Indiana just didn't want to deal him to to the east, and rather somewhere out west?

He shouldn't budge.  Olidipo and Sabonis for George suddenly makes the Bulls look like geniuses.  If that's the best Indy could get, it means George is giving NO ONE any promises about resigning and without that, would you really give up a potential #2 pick in 2018 for a one-year rental?
