But... why???

With Fournier, Payton, Mack, Augustin, and Jonathan Simmons, did they need another guard?

You need 15 players to fill out a roster. 6 guards seems reasonable.  Whether or not that 6th guard should be Afflalo is a different matter, but 5-7 guards is fine.

Should've been more clear. I don't get the fit. Reminds me a lot of their signing of Jeff Green last offseason.

Orlando has the ambition of being a playoff team, having been no good for several seasons.  If Afflalo can give them some 3-and-D off the bench in a year when at least a third of the East is actively punting, the marginal value he provides might be worth it.  It's only a 1-year deal for not much money (at most the room exception), he's a familiar face.  It's fine, if not forgettable.

It makes more sense than their signing of Simmons.

Their glut of wings makes me interested in the price for Hezonja. I'd love to take a flyer on that kid, if he gets the right development he'll be a great shooting guard

Andrew Nicholson to Blazers, who will most likely waive him using the stretch provision.

Crabbe actually waived his trade kicker.  It appears he really wanted to be in Brooklyn as that is the team he signed with last off season before the Blazers matched.

that 2018 Nets pick looking worst as weeks go by

its too bad they couldn't just stink for one more season  ;D

Whatever does happen this year we've had it pretty good the last few seasons!

Also the only way was up for Brooklyn after they traded Lopez. I'm still not sold that they aren't bottom 3 in the conference. Also remember that if they are better than LA at least that improves our chances of getting that pick!

Sources- Crabbe being traded to the Nets

It looks like Crabbe will be traded from Portland to the Nets for Andrew Nicholson who will be waived.  Crabbe may not have lived up to his salary but did score in double figures and shot 44% from the 3.   I would be more apt to trade next year's pick and the Lakers/Kings pick as well.

Have many people actually looked at the Nets roster? Even with Crabbe, it is still pretty cringe-worthy.

http://www.espn.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/bkn/brooklyn-nets

Seriously, people are upset that the Nets got Allen 'Overpaid' Crabbe, DeMarre ' Time to Retire' Carroll, and DeAngelo 'Dumped #2 Pick' Russell. And let's not forget, Timofey 'Are You Freakin' Kidding Me' Mozgov.

It's possible they don't end up with the worst record this year, but to see that team as anything but bottom 5 is wearing Barclay's colored glasses.

The Magic had a pretty good record with Smith as GM. Could be good. I'm rooting for the King sot figure it out at some point (as long as it doesn't adversely affect that Lakers/Kings pick the C's own).

Glad he got picked up. Performed really well all throughout the year, and impressed me.
