With his scheduling conflicts story... That's not a good way to start out in the NBA with lies coming out of your mouth on draft night. I am glad the Celtics draft high character guys for a playoff team...

It's his agent who handles that stuff. And his agent has told him what to say.

Kid is 20 years old just doing what he's told by someone he's trusts.

Nothing to get worked up about.
They felt the Suns situation was better for them- even if he did potentially leave some money on the table.

Good for him- he's going where he wanted to go.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Def not a fan of his. Don't understand why he let his agent control him so much.

He gave up more money on a contender in a great city for the best franchise for what, more playing time?

Ok, have fun.

The fact that Ainge could have still drafted him and moved him for a lower pick and pick up something, anything extra, means he was either really fed up with Jackson/Armstrong or he simply really loved Tatum.

He have the same agent as Javale McGee, BJ Armstrong. He's the same guy that screwed us with Javale.

Well it's completely understandable from his agent's POV.
Less money on his rookie deal but playing for the Suns means more court time and more developmental time on a team that isn't already loaded with wing talent. He comes right in and gets at least 20 mins a game if not more.

Long term he (and his agent) will probably get a larger UFA contract if he plays for Suns instead of Celtics. They are just playing the odds.

On draft night he said he spoke to the Celtics management and everything was cool

Danny comes out a few hours later in the post-draft news conference to say that no one from the Celtics ever spoke with josh

There is a big difference between being unwilling to work out for a particular franchise, and failing to show up for a workout that that franchise's GM/AGM/HC flew 3000 miles to conduct.

You have a very strange concept of what is socially acceptable behavior!   ::)

I thought an agent was supposed to get their players the most money.

He's a rookie. He, more than any of the top 4, has to improve the most. The Celtics could have brought him along slower while he worked on his game. Suns can't hide his flaws. More PT doesn't always equate to a larger contract down the road.

All we know for certain is his agent purposely dropped his contract value for the next 4+ years. Draftees shouldn't in a position to call the shots where they play. This sets a bad precedent. Maybe all these workouts should be open to any and all teams. No private workouts so you go hard for a team you want and dog it for a team you don't. Each player can set a day and teams can come if they want.

Its funny how people say it's the agents fault

This guy has multiple red flags. The incident with the girl and breaking car lights, now this. Yet there's always an excuse ready from the Jackson supporters about how's he just a normal guy.

Well look at Evan Turner.  Gets drafted by a bad team, gets lots of playing time and does not develop.  Then moves to Celtics, resurrects his career and then gets a bid contract as an UFA.

So not sure Jackson is really on the path to success.

I am glad we picked Tatum.  In fact I think the Celtics pick Tatum even if Jackson works out for Celtics.  Celtics were just doing their due diligence.

Evan Turner was an objectively bad basketball player in Boston. He got that offer because Portland lost their mind. It's not like he developed his weaknesses in Boston, he still can't shoot or finish to save his life.

I'm not a Jackson supporter. I preferred Tatum.

I'm saying the kid is 20 years old and all these business decisions are controlled by his entourage and his agent/management.

What's funny is how many people think Jackson personally cancelled a workout with the team picking #3 like it was his choice- when they have zero clue.

The reality is, that the mostly likely reason he cancelled this workout was because someone in his management team cancelled it.

He couldnt shoot, but he finished pretty well.

STOP acting like a 19~20 years old can not think a thing himself, we aren't talking about 16 year kids here, they are young but they are adults and is going to be a pro
Didn't he choose his agent in the first place? who he knew will represent him?
So his agent ****ed danny up and he is OK with it?
And his agent told him to lie in public and he just do it? will he gave his house to BJ if he told him so?
oh and does his agent tell him to kick a women's car?

This guy HAS a problem, either in decision making or... in moral
