Not to sound like "that guy", but shouldn't this thread title be labeled as "RUMOR" or something..

The thread title currently makes it sound like extension talks and everything are actually happening right now and they are official...

I'd really hate to lose brown but Tatum may end up being better overall.  He's younger and is a better shooter, plus can possibly be worked in to play the 4.  If it ring in Hayward why not.

Brown is STAYING. He can shift to the 2 when AB is potentially dealt.

i'd like to keep brown also. give up the pick instead and other players.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
It's suppose to be dependent upon signing Hayward.

Give up Nets 2018 #1, AB, Crowder and Brown.

Keeping Tatum and signing Hayward.

Do it now Danny!!

Brown and the Nets #2018 1st pick.

Wow..

Unbelievable what some people will give up for a one year rental.
did you miss the premise of this thread?  The premise (no matter how flawed), has George signing a 3 year extension, so Boston would have him for 4 years.

Yes I can read, thank you very much, but I appreciate the concern, Moranis.

Still wouldn't do it, misleading thread title by OP, as its just a baseless rumor, and the fact of the matter is the Pacers have absolutely no leverage whatsoever to assume their going to get two top 7 picks for someone who apparently stated that he wants out.

In what world is PG worth not only a top 3 pick with promising upside, but a pick that could end up top 3 once again? By the way, reports surface Ainge isn't trading Brown away.

Danny Ainge just said on CSNNE that he hangs up the phone the moment a team brings up Brown's name in trade talks. He's not trading Brown.

If a deal for George happens (w/extension), it will be AB/Crowder/Rozier + LAL 18 and maybe some other non BRK first rounders.

Paul George with 4 years left on his contract has that type of value.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Zeller, Bradley, Crowder, LAL/SAC pick is the most you give up for Paul George, which imo is more than enough.

Horford / Zizic
George / Yabusele
Hayward / Tatum
Brown / Smart
Thomas / Rozier

Saltlover tore this to shreds in the other thread:

Short version - George would be leaving 10s of millions on the table to sign any extension we could offer after signing Hayward. We could have a secret handshake deal for him to resign next offseason but absolutely no way to do it now without forgoing any major FAs.

But this is not Indiana's premise. Their George's value is one year left, no matter wherever he signs afterwards.

I could go for this deal. It's either give up both of the picks next year or Brown. AB is a FA and may not resign, so they need to cover themselves. They may want a SF to take PG place. To get PG means you can go to the Finals. Keeping the picks and Brown means you don't for another 2 years. Either way the Celtics can do both.

In terms of value it's about right. Maybe a little overpay but not as much as some think.  Of course, the Net's pick could be number 1 again and you just never know if the next franchise player will be available.  Brown has talent but also is a long way from being a good full time player.  AB and Crowder are good players but they are trumped by an all star.

why in the world would we need to give Indiana so much for a guy who is leaving no matter what? It's not like they have him for 4 more years, they'd be happy with (and lucky to get) half that haul.

Let's get real people.

Danny should offer that LA pick as the biggest chip in the trade. It gives Indy a reason to send PG13 here instead of LA

I agree AB( wouldn't be able to re-sign anyway), Crowder , LA pick and maybe another non lottery 1st rounder.

Indy isn't getting a better offer than that IMO

...were close on a deal, but it fell apart when Indiana asked for the Celtics' 2026 third-round pick. According to Boston GM Danny Ainge, "We feel that Jordan Mickey, Tyler Zeller and Amir Johnson offer excellent value and, as a kicker, we threw in our 2022 and 2024 third-rounders. But when they asked for that final one, it was just too much.
