Jackson is certainly explosive and related to that, I can grant more able to gain separation in some cases. But IQ-wise I feel like Tatum beats Jackson hands down. By a long shot. Like not even negotiable, it's so evident.
Jackson has freaky athleticism and Tatum has an old man game, but I'm pretty sure the consensus is that Jackson's IQ is quite a bit higher.  The Lakers or Kings pick better be awesome because it's going to suck if Fultz becomes a 25ppg scorer and we have a Granger, Sean Elliot, Battier type guy.

If we are comparing Tatum to Pierce, Tatum dunks like Clippers Pierce.  His feet move faster than Clippers Pierce but he doesn't get any higher over the rim.  That's my main concern- Tatum's athleticism, because I really like his skills.

So I went back and looked over a wide variety of scouting reports on both Jackson and Tatum and failed to see anyone even come close to claiming Jackson has a higher BBIQ. Not sure where you are getting this consensus from - kuathletics.com?
Jackson is known as a playmaker for others when he drives.  Tatum is known to have more of a one track scoring mind.  Chad Ford even lists among Tatum's weaknesses that he's "a bit of a ball hog."

That is one low low floor  :-\

I see it as;

Floor: Tobias Harris

What I expect: A weird blend between Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison

Ceiling: Paul Pierce
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

A pet peeve of mine is that "floor" projections are almost always overrated.

I mean, players at every single draft spot, including 1, 2, and 3, have flamed out of the league before their second contract. No team drafting a player at 1 2 or 3 thinks that is remotely possible, but it is. So the floor HAS to allow for that.

If you looked at a mock draft 1-30, then by the "floor" of all those players, all of them would at least be rotation players. But this doesn't happen; many players don't finish their rookie deals. The problem is, the realistic "floor" for EACH player is probably a name most people don't recognize, because the floor is being a complete bust.

So, to say someone's "floor" is a guy who can put up a 16/5/1.5 in his 4th season is overly optimistic, that's more like a "average expectation."

Oh yeah I agree entirely, just trying to remain optimistic  ;)

If I was being completely honest, the absolute worst kind of player I can see Tatum being is a Perry Jones III kinda guy.

Yup there are many famous busts to choose from.  Floor doesn't have to mean an obscure kid who simply couldn't hack the pro life.

Jaylen Brown's floor - Rookie Year Jaylen Brown... lol duh

Ceiling - T-MAC

Jayson Tatum's floor - Rookie Year TJ Warren.. my guess

Ceiling - apparently with the talks of these playing together... it seems the Celtics hope he turns into Kevin McHale with a 3 point shot?

I feel we got the best offensive player in the draft, with the possible exception of Fultz. We filled a need too.

My concerns are, it'll be a while before he's a candidate to play extended minutes at power forward, we have Brown, and Crowder, AND Hayward on the horizon. Where does he get his minutes from?

Ceiling player: Melo

I just hope that if his ceiling is Carmelo.. it's with better defense and a slightly lower ego  ;D

Well his low-post game has some similarities.  He can do that pivot foot thing, then stretch with his long arms for a finger roll.

Dudes got a mid to better then average player ceiling. Not somebody you take the 3 pick after trading down from 1. I don't usually have a strong opinion and let Ainge do his thing but this is a colossal Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. up. Best case scenario poor mans Danny Granger, it's wild Jaylen pick got booed and this didn't bc Brown is going to be a wayyyy better player.

Lol really keep the green glasses on buddy he is not and will
Never be in Melos league as an offensive player, he is multiple
Tiers below Melo in athleticism. He will not have a dribble
drive game like a young Melo did, this is a bad pick role
player at 3 sweet. You can bookmark this if you want but he is not gonna be worth the 3rd pick in this draft.
