The Wolves surprisingly gave up very little for Butler. (LaVine is injured) The C's could have bettered that deal easily. And still had a ton of assets remaining.

That's all I know is we better get Hayward as a FA.

The Celtics reportedly refused to offer the #3 pick or the Nets pick in Butler talks. They didn't want him that badly apparently, and I agree with them. He would have killed our max free agent cap space too.

Because Danny Ainge is not interested in losing in the ECF while also having no long-term hope.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Apparently the Celtics like Tatum more than Butler.  Because they could have had Butler straight up for the #3 pick.  So there you have it.

I suspect DA ...did not want to sign him in the long run for mega bucks .

I think CBS is getting his guy Hayward .....for a max price though.

Giving CBS Hayward ......makes CBS happy and want to stay ....not go to Indiana and coach college again

TAtum , Zizic , and Hayward won't beat Lebron .  .....maybe win a couple reg games , not post season

Gonna need another really good star ......Like Westbrooke  or Davis g

Because he's too old and not good enough to be worth giving up multiple high picks + useful players.

That's the logical conclusion.  Not saying you have to agree with it, but that seems like the explanation.

Yep.

And contrary to someone like George, I don't think Butler is that good of a fit here.

Smart and #3 is just as good as what they got. Throw in another mediocre 1st.

It also seems like teams look at Boston's assets and demand a higher price for their players than they do of other teams, assuming Boston will overpay just because they have to asset. Good on Ainge for being patient and waiting for a good deal.

maybe Brown improves more and the seperation is not worth the picks and money for Butler in the long run.

#1) Trading for Butler forces you to dump more salary to sign Hayward (re goodbye AB or Kelly, which defeats the purpose of winning now).  Remember, in the NBA you have to match salaries.

#2) Butler is good but he is not THAT good.  A couple first rounders?  OK.  The #3 pick from last year and this year?  NO.

#3) We don't need him if we sign Hayward.

He didn't want Butler..  He Kicked the tires to see if he could get him for a few bucks but was not willing to bend over backwards.

(And We have his skill set in Brown)

Here is my take, the bulls wanted more last deadline, ainge refused to budge in. Ainge got less interested in butler the more he knew about the draft and league value, bulls didsnt get many offers cloae to what they initially wanted and settled for the best offer on the table.
