Just walked through the door after an extremely long day and happy to see that the good guys won :)  Nice to see that Tatum ended up being the pick.  I like the kid.  Surprised by the Butler trade, too.

it was a good trade for both teams

It makes sense for both sides.  Kris Dunn seems to be the big winner.

Reading Tatum improvement as the season moved fwd was nice

So he is coachable... Hard worker

If he can shoot the 3 better now plus can add a little more mass to help with his explosivenes.. will be amazing!

There is a video of Tatum hitting 17 straight NBA 3s in practice.

He was injured early on too and missed the first 8 games and didn't really get into a groove until after Christmas and conference play.

Upward trajectory....psyched....class kid.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think Brown will be the better NBA player but i like Tatum.

I would trade him for Paul George but if we keep him i dont have a problem with that either.

I still think Fultz will be the best player in this draft but Tatum has mad offensive game and the footwork of an elite boxer.
I'm hoping his footwork helps him become a great defender like Brown.

Would love for the C's office to explain how they came to a unanimous dexusion on Tatum over Fultz because i still dont see how it could be unanimous.

I trust Ainge and Brad either way.
My one concern with Tatum is that he might be a bit soft, but in his defense he does get pretty fiery on the court so fingers crossed.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Fultz workout mustn't have been all that impressive.

The Celtics were so intrigued by Tatum that they had him work out TWICE for them.

Jackson of course killed any chance he had with us by skipping out and canceling his workout.

NBA teams, in particular the Celtics, really do seem to value these in person workouts.

I like Fultz better, but I don't doubt Ainge and Stevens like Tatum as much or better.  Tatum was the Gatorade high school player of the year.  He's the most skilled wing since I don't know when.  He's 6'8" maybe even pushing 6'9" and he's still growing into his body.  From what I've read, his character and work ethic are exceptional.  Who knows what he will be in a few years, but guys like him are rare.

That seems to be the tell in terms of who Ainge ultimately decides to select.  Didn't Brown come in for a second workout, as well?

I have a feeling that when Ainge traded Fultz, Jackson was the player he would have taken at #1.  I really don't believe that he would have taken Tatum at #1.

How does this make sense when both Jackson and Tatum were available at #3?

Jackson made them fly half way around the country to meet him for a tryout and then he canceled it. I pretty sure it had a big part in the final decision

As Ederson just said, I think Jackson really turned them off after the trade.
