With everything we're hearing we HAVE to take Josh Jackson at 3 right? Even if there are no deals agreed to before we're on the clock, we select Jackson we have all the leverage in future trades.

This is different than last year because I don't think Danny ever wanted Dunn. Jackson is someone that will fit into what we're trying to do, and someone we've been rumored to want. Dunn wasn't.

What are thoughts on this?

Imo, we 'll draft either Tatum or Isaac. If it's Isaac, I could see us trading down with either the Kings or the Magic.

Yep. Has to be.

Even if it's a simple trade down with Phoenix or Sacramento where we get Tatum and an additional asset (please be Skal!), Danny has to do that. That's completely in line with his overbearing love for assets.

I don't know, but Tatum and Booker would be a nice dynamic duo for years to come.

No.   If the Celtics have a player they have rated higher and there are no deals in place, they take their guy.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I feel like it has to be if you still want to trade at some point this summer.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Yes. If available at 3. Jackson is the pick. Book it

But the value of the player (vs. the pick) drops especially if teams figure out they only took him to trade him.

Remember, It has to be Dunn last year for the same reason.
That didn't happen either

Fascinating machinations around Josh Jackson today. Loads of teams trying to trade into the top 4 to get him.

Celtics know this, and thus have to decide whether to take a player who wouldn't workout or interview even when they had the 1 pick.

Clippers, Spurs, Bulls all have interest in him and big name veteran players (DeAndre, LaMarcus, Jimmy) who would really help Boston.

Theory A: we're not ending the night without some sort of significant trade for the 3 pick.

Theory B: Danny has become a God of leaking rumors and misinformation, and this is mainly to put pressure on Phil to lower his asking price.

Boston will never make the pick at 3 because they will trade down again to draft Smith

Jackson, in the sense he's a tough, D guy whom everybody seems to want. Which makes him very tradeable. So it could be the sign of a trade if he gets drafted.

Picking Tatum would be a sign they aren't trading. And maybe they aren't getting Hayward.
Tatum is not in high demand trade wise, and he's too much like Hayward, though he has some 4 potential down the road.

Nope, doesn't have to be Jackson picked at 3...not for the C's anyway. IMO, it won't be either. If a deal isn't in place by the time the 3rd pick is on the clock, the C's will be picking someone else.

Who? Don't know, but maybe...

* Tatum if the C's stay at 3

* if the C's move down
   * Smith if IT's health is worse than thought
   * Issac if IT's health is better than thought

* Jackson only if he's being moved and a deal is in place for him

Why would they draft another guard, when they sent a signal trading the Fultz pick? I think they want a forward. They are weak up front.

They didn't want a guard last year, and I think they don't want a guard this year, either.
