Taking Issac at three when you can get him at 6 would not be something Boston should do.

Issac could be a nice player in about 5 years but he is more raw than most anyone in the draft. He was a bit of a disappointment at FSU.

Nice kid...but stay away from him

Like taking Brown at 3 when they could have had him at somewhere between 6-10?

Yup. I would be happy with whoever C's felt was best out of Jackson, Isaac, Tatum or Ball. Though I like the upside of Isaac a lot more.

Seems like an Ainge pick. We would love him, he'd make winning plays, he'd shoot below 35% from three, and he'd average 10-12 ppg.

I want a trade, Tatum or Jackson

Just think Issac has a huge bust factor.

It would be Ainge being Ainge - making a pick so he can seem like he knows something no one else knows.

Passing on Fultz for Isaac would be disastrous. Tatum should be their guy.

We'd have to trade down to take Isaac. With Sacramento.  Take Isaac at 5 (unless Tatum available) and Smith at 10.

Having Smith would be insurance in case we can't agree to new contract with IT.

Of course Danny would not make trade unless Smith drops down to 10, which I could see happening.

Which means Ainge will very likely draft Jackson, because that is where the best deals will be.  And he can be happy with taking him if nothing transpires.

From a fit standpoint, I think he eventually slots in next to Horford quite well,  but with that frame I think he struggles to ever be an interior physical presence.  Like others have said, if you're picking him he's much better value at 5-6 than at 3.

The idea of having to resign Bradley, Smart It makes me believe Ainge take Smith somehow. I personally think if this is the case, he is not getting an impact player for several years. Smith has had knee issues and he disappeared quite often in games last season at NC State. I just don't see what there is to like about him

SAC ends up with Fox and Markkanen by this mock.  I like that better than Issac.  Not sure SAC would do it but assuming SI is right (which they probably are not), how about a trade of #3 plus Memphis pick for #5 and #10 and end up with Issac (or maybe Tatum who many like better) and Markkanen.  SAC would have to be in love with Jackson for this to work and it would depend on who PHO picked (a lot of "ifs") but this is not all that much of a stretch.

If we have Markkanen, then we don't have to worry about trading for Porzingis.  Who knows, Markkanen may be an only slightly poor man's version of Porzingis but without back and knee concerns that keep being brought up.  I used to live in Helsinki so I admit, I am partial to the Finnish big man, but if Issac is Danny's guy (who knows), you could make this trade and get the Suomalainen isomies as a bonus.

Markanen doesn't come close to matching Porzingis skill set.

I don't understand why Isaac is viewed as a bust risk. He clearly has a place in the league as a defensive specialist at the 4. His downside tail (like many other prospects) involves being a worse-than-expected shooter, but all signs point to him being a competent shooter: 31/89 on 3's (.348) and especially 92/118 on FT (.780). He definitely doesn't have *more* downside shooting risk than  Josh Jackson, who shout 56% on FT. Even Jason Tatum you could say has more downside risk in connection with his shooting: although he projects as an excellent midrange shooter and he shot 85% on FTs, his prospect value is heavily predicated on making contested jump shots off the dribble, and he wasn't great from the NCAA 3. If he turns out to be merely an average NBA 3pt shooter then he won't be a good player.

I'd be happy with either Isaac or Tatum at 3, and somewhat disappointed with Jackson.

The risk is he ends up not being a league average three point shooter and never adds a handle so then he's just Farouq Aminu.

I would forget he was the lottery pick on the floor watching FSU last year with their long and athletic team, especially on offense.

you know better than to hope such things with Danny .  He do exactly opposite what 90 % would do.
