I like Jackson because he is a tough dude like Smart who can play defense. He'll be the Celtics equivalent of the Warriors Green.  But they will have to sign a Hayward to get another scorer.

I hate to say it, but I have nightmare visions of Olynyk when I think of Tatum. Hope not.

Draft Tatum or Issac

Sign Hayward Blake Griffin

Make another minor trade

Let all the dead weight go

Hire Paul Pierce to mentor and work with Tatum and Brown

Let's roll!

There's not much reason to sign Hayward if you have Brown and Tatum. But Griffin, on the other hand, fills a need in that scenario.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

LOL ....good thought .....Jsackson would get thrown out for fighting with Green .....that might give us an edge.

I think Jayson Tatum will thrive under Brad Stevens. I wouldnt trade this pick for anyone. We are not getting AD, KP would be awesome but that may happen with a few starters and the 018 Brooklyn pick.

I think Tatum and Brown are going to be an awesome duo in this league. Similar to Paul and Tony back in the day. They will build off eachother. I think its the smartest pick for Boston. Let Josh Jackson go to the Suns

That downside is that everytime we Google "Tatum", we'll have to see Channing Tatum's face.

Should be noted that Tatum missed games at the beginning of the year from injury. He wasn't in basketball shape, took him some time to get into shape, then he got better and better and better.

Culminating in a dominant ACC tournament, a 9 game stretch where he reeled off multiple 20 plus point games, he's three point shot kept improving.

He carried Duke through that stretch. He's got crazy "upside" 6'8" multi level scorers who can do it all. With unbelievable polish at 19 years old don't grow on trees.

Slightly off-topic, but did anyone read this ringer discussion about Tatum?

I don't know about you, but I think KOC got smoked by Tjarks and Chau on this one. I mean, one of his arguments was that

Quote
Basketball is about more than what happens on the court.

Nothing against O'Connor, he's usually doing a good job, but that was quite embarrassing, imo.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

If we end up keeping the pick I wouldn't be upset with Tatum.

Very high character and high end scoring potential.

The only worry that niggles in the back of my mind is that his athleticism isn't elite.

He doesn't stand out as an explosive player.

But if he could turn into Carmelo-lite he wouldn't need that would he?

Bird, MJ, Lebron, Kobe...you name it. All super nice guys.

I think Danny would do well to remember Red drafted him because he was an instigator, not because he was so popular with the community...

Thanks for nitpicking!

Tp to you for owning up, but correcting someone when they make a false assertion is not nitpicking.

I like players with an edge, but it doesn't mean they can't be "nice guys" off the court. Obviously, the best thing is to have someone with both talent AND edge, but those guys are rare. It doesn't really accomplish anything to draft players with lesser talent and lots of edge over someone with a lot of talent and only a little edge.

Also, I think there is a lot of revisionist history regarding supposedly "soft" players who, after winning a title, suddenly are seen as players who had that killer instinct all along.
