Or would you pass?

They make around 30 million combined....

NY had a hard time moving Melo all year.  So maybe we take them both?  And by taking on Melo that would have cost us less for Porzingis...   hmm who knows.   Melo can still score and play PF at times.

Keep our core:

Maybe move Memphis, Clippers, Boston 2018 and their choice of

A) Nets 2018 Top 5 protected
B) Lakers 2018
C) Jae Crowder
D) 2017 Nets 1st

IT/Rozier
Bradley/Smart
Melo/Brown
Porzingis

I'd throw the 3rd pick and spare 1sts for Porzingis and Q'Quinn.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I'd rather give them a bunch of picks just for Porzingis.  Hayward is too big of a free agent target to miss out on.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

What about Hayward?

I don't think we could land Melo, KP and him.

I agree, but I think Phil Jackson is teasing teams to get them to call him.   I do not think they can move Melo unless they tie KP with him.  And I think KP will cost too many picks.

Jackson already killed a chance for a Melo trade. Traded for Rose and signed Noah to a long deal. He's no RED!

Porzingis is an interesting idea because of his salary. If you traded picks and Crowder you would actually create more cap space...

Bradley ($8.8M) + Crowder ($6.8M) + #3 pick ($5.6M) + Smart ($4.5M)
=
$25.7

for

Anthony ($26.2M), Porzingis ($4.5M)
=
$30.7M

That's the only way I can see it happening, because that trade is valid under the cap *after* you sign Hayward. #3 has to be in there, or your talking about adding 2 more players, one of which would be Jaylen Brown. We could add future pick(s), but that assumes you put some value on Anthony that I do not...

IT/ Hayward/ Anthony/ Porzingis/ Horford
(Rozier/ Brown/ Yabusele/ Theiss/ Zizic)

I think Anthony has to play as a power forward at this point. I don't think he can defend the 3 or 4 but he has a better chance at the 4.
