Report: Celtics turned down Bulls’ trade offer of Jimmy Butler for No. 3 pick in draft: Chicago went to Boston and offered Butler for the No. 3 pick of the 2017 NBA draft. It was a straight-up offer with nothing else attached. Reportedly, the Celtics said no to the offer. (CBS Boston)

Jimmy Butler-to-Celtics buzz more speculation than reality — for now: As of Sunday, the talk is based more on speculation than reality, a stance that at least three league executives the Tribune spoke to over the weekend don’t expect to change by Thursday. There is plenty of belief within the league and the Bulls organization that the Celtics are poised to use the No. 3 pick Thursday and then pursue Jazz All-Star Gordon Hayward in free agency come July. (Chicago Tribune)

I think it also has to do with the fact that Butler only has 2 years left on his deal now, and if he makes another All-NBA team, extending him would mean doing it at around 40M/Year I believe (or a VERY high figure anyways).

Meanwhile, you could add Griffin/Hayward for "free" and use #3 OR trade down and add some more assets while drafting someone you like in this draft still at the Top-10.

Like us, they must also be REAL high on Jaylen Brown. A guy who can become our Jimmy Butler in a few years.  ;D

No, I believe it has to be the drafted team in order for him to get that supermax, which is actually one of the reasons Chicago is looking to trade him rather than pay him that huge extension.

That's just insane! He's not worth that.

Exactly.

If IT isn't worth 30M/Year to people on here, then Butler sure as hell isn't worth potential supermax either.

I'm gonna say something crazy, but true.

Jimmy Butler is a better overall player than IT. 23 points, 6 boards, 5.5 assists per and doesn't get abused on the defensive end.

I wish we could swap Jimmy for IT for a game. Nothing else. Just have them switch teams. Maybe people will actually start to respect what Jimmy brings to the table.

Opposing executives believe Minnesota is considering using its No. 7 pick as part of a package to try to re-engage the Chicago Bulls on a trade for Jimmy Butler, ESPN has learned. The Cavs had previously tried to trade for Butler but were unsuccessful. Sources told ESPN's Marc Stein that Butler earlier this week expressed a desire to remain in Chicago and lead the Bulls back to prominence. The Vertical reported earlier this week that Minnesota had preliminary talks with Chicago about Butler.

There's Jimmy Butler talk happening, but, according to multiple sources here, it doesn't include the Celtics. Hasn't for a while.

Looks like it's either Porzingis, George or Tatum tonight.

If NYK are desperate for Jackson and C's take him there, I think Phil may lower the asking price just enough to make Porzingis happen.

And I still think PG13 is HIGHLY UNLIKELY but you never know what the C's think behind closed doors, and what they've discussed with PG13 and his agents...

Butler doesn't excite me so I'm fine if he goes somewhere else.

And then Butler for Love.

Boom, Minny gets the #1 overall (Wiggins) for a three-year lease of Love.

If that isn't basketball karma, I don't know what is.

More stars getting shipped out west.

Also, Danny apparently not interested in making a real play for Butler.

Not sure how that wolves starting lineup is gonna work.
