Ainge isn't giving up the 3rd pick for Butler straight up, what does that tell you?

I read it the other way around - that Danny offered #3 fir Butler straight up and the Bulls rejected.

If Danny  won't give up #3 for Butler he's a raving lunatic.

Yea I'm confused now. I thought the Bulls rejected that trade?

conflicting reports .. this one says different

Not conflicting reports, but poor reading comprehension by someone at NESN.

TP, was just about to post that. Stories like those are what make me want to start my own journalism/news company.

"The Bulls were rebuffed" = "Bulls offered and were subsequently denied"

The only way danny makes this trade is if we send out the same salary we receive in butler. Let's be serious here why would he give up the 3rd pick while simultaneously giving up the option to sign a max free agent this year. #3 and hayward/Griffin looks allot better than just butler
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

Why would he?

If he gives them #3 fir Butler straight up,  then he have to absorb Butlers $17M or so contract.  That means no max cap space to sign Hayward / Griffin.

I imagine Boston wants Chicago to take some players too so that they don't need to eat any of his salary.

I still would trade the extra pick we picked up from Philly LA/Sac + our own pick next year for Butler or Love. I may even prefer Love because I think it's clear we are going to take either Jackson or Tatum with the third pick. I think that gives us a more rounded better team.

I have a feeling #3 and Crowder are going to the knicks.

Unless I am missing something, the NBA still has matching salary requirements.  It seems like those rules would prohibit Jimmy Butler for the number 3 draft pick straight up from ever being considered as a trade by either party.

You're allowed to trade a pick for a player and not worry about salary, you just can't include any other players unless those players match salaries.

So:

Pick for Player = ok
Pick + Player that makes $1 for a player that makes $10 dollars = not ok
Pick + Player that makes $10 for a player that makes $10 = ok

We have max cap space, or near it at least

If we did that and got Hayward, I would be so pumped.  Still likely have two lotto picks next year, bring in Zizic and Yabu on top of that, maybe even Nader

Remember last year, right before the Celtics pick, Woj tweeted out that there were serious talks going on involving Butler, Boston and the 76ers. Sent everyone into a huge frenzy and when the pick was made, of course the boos followed lol  :P

I get the feeling this will happen again Thursday, except with MULTIPLE players.

Stay tuned...
