This is an incredible place for Celtics fan to be.  Not to belabor the obvious, of course we're sitting on a unique opportunity to compete now and later.

But, what's even more exciting is Ainge's position to do something wildly unprecedented this week. Two actions in particular would make me the happiest little CsBlogger on the interweb:

1.  Trade down (x3).  Literally, three times.  Maybe four.  Just get stupid with it.  Turn the #1 pick into 3 late firsts and 6 seconds.  Cease all GM activities and just create a new team with our 15 draft picks in the next 6 years, completely void of effort. Just see what happens.

*2. Asterisk'd for effect, this is my pipe dream:  Draft someone at #3 (that we "would've drafted at 1") that has been projected to be a fringe lottery talent at best.  I do not put it past Ainge to stroke his ego with a banana nut bread choice here.  Tatum/Jackson? Smoke screen for potential trade offers.  Words can't express how happy I'd be to see Ainge select Donovan Mitchell, Luke Kennard, or Frank Ntilikina with #3/#1.

Is there one other poster that feels this way?

With the third pick in the 2017 NBA draft, the Boston celtics select:

Jimmer Fredette
"Gimme the ball, gimme the ball". Freddy Quimby, 1994.

I'll take trickybilly's comment and a "yes" vote as success.  Don't mind if I bump this thread when Danny selects TJ Leaf at #3.

Danny trades the #3, BRK '18 and LAL '18 for #2.

He selects Dwayne Bacon, because who doesn't love bacon?

50% of CB still recites "in Danny we trust".

Lol.  Yes, this is the spirit I had hoped for.  In all honesty, would you be that surprised to see him select someone that hasn't been talked about at all in the past week?  I honestly wouldn't, and I'm intrigued to see what's to come because I do question his drafting... and the spotlight's on him.

Dwayne Bacon is mostly likely a second round pick.  Why are you bringing him up?
I get the frustration and I join in it to an extent.   I like Fultz and believe a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.  That said, clearly Ainge doesn't agree.  If we get a top pick with the Lakers pick, this is probably a  home run as we could get a highly touted big.  It's a gamble no doubt.

For #2 ???

He should use them to get the 2017 #1 back from Philly.  8)

Fair enough.  There's a lot of chaos right now. A lot of emotions.  It will be fascinating to see what happens on Thursday.

You don't want to know the crazy trade down ideas in my mind.  If Lakers select Jackson, trade down a spot to phoenix for Ball.  Then down one with SAC so they can draft Fox.  We'll get 5 and 10.  So then down 1 so Orlando can draft Tatum.  Then down 3 so Dallas can draft Ntilikina.  Now we're at 9 and 10 -- we don't want both.  I hear the Lakers want another late lotto, so let's trade #9 for #28 and something in the future.  Maybe we can draft Markinnen at #10, and ship off #28 for something in 2023.

Yeah, it will be.  I do ultimately trust Ainge and am big on Tatum.  But also interested to see if a major trade goes down and enjoy considering potential surprises from DA based on his draft history.

Haha.  This is great, and only you could come with it.  The draft is so deep that multiple trade downs could actually be reasonable, and I don't ever remember that being the case.

If you had to guess, what do you think happens with the pick?

"Dwayne Bacon"? I think he should go after Mark Macon.

I get that this is all weirdly tongue-in-cheek, but if taking Jonathan Isaac counts as "stupid," I might be in.
